Exporting Contacts, Tasks and Notes from Outlook using an IMAP account
These guidelines apply to a domain computer with a standard installation – i.e. Windows 7 with Office 2010
and English as the user interface language.
The procedures may look slightly different on other systems, but the principles are the same.
Exporting Contacts
Open Outlook and go to Contacts.
Overview of your current contact entries.
Click on File.
Select Open and Import.
Select ’Export to a file’ + Next.
Select ’Outlook Data File (.pst)’ + Next
Select Contacts under ’Outlook Data File’ + Next
Select a location. In this example we have chosen to create the Outlookbackup.pst file on the Desktop.
Click on Finish.
The same procedure can be followed for ’Suggested contacts’.
Exporting Notes
Open Outlook and go to Notes.
Click on File, select Open and Import
Select ’Export to a file’ + Next.
Select ’Outlook Data File (.pst)’ + Next.
Select Notes under ’Outlook Data File’ + Next.
Select a location (in this example we use the same file on the Desktop as before) + Finish.
A password can be linked to the file, but in this case it is ignored as the file is already protected by its own
password.
Tasks
Open Outlook and go to Tasks -> To-Do List
Select File, Open and Import.
Select ’Export to a file’ + Next
Select ’Outlook Data File (.pst)’ + Next.
Select ’Outlook Data File’.
Select Tasks + Next.
Select a location (in this example we use the same file on the Desktop as before) + Finish.
