The Ferrobamba Formation is a mixed package of carbonate rocks and minor siliciclastic rocks. Jasperoide occurs in the upper section of the Ferrobamba, whereas Las Bambas occurs at the central-lower Ferrobamba. Skarn systems can go to great depths, the Ertsberg Skarn system in Indonesia being a prime example.
