they care as much as we do.”• “They [teachers] enjoy doing it and
that is why we learn better.”• One student, when asked about Global
21 CTE Performance Assessment said, “I loved it – it was cool. We had a relay light switch and doorbell and hooked up the service.”
• “We have the best teachers in vo-tech that we could ever ask for. They are like our family. We stick together like brothers and sisters.” they don’t know what they are going to do.”
Student Voices
• “We mostly hear about [CTE] classes from other kids.”
• “People don’t understand vocational.”• “Some people take vocational who are far up
in academics.”• “My friends are seniors and they wish they
would’ve come to the career center because they don’t know what they are going to do.”
Student Voices
• “People are amazing here and make you feel good about yourself.”
• “They never discourage you. They are very supportive.”
• “The skills you learn from being in the classes teach you leadership skills that will help you in life no matter what you do.”
• “Vocational teachers are more close to their students and they get more respect. The more you do, the higher level of trust you have to know they’ve taught you how to be safe.”

Pathways to Prosperity: Meeting the Challenge of Preparing Young Americans for the 21st Century
February 2011
“College for All does not mean everyone needs a B.A. Most jobs do not require a B.A.”
Pathways to Prosperity: Meeting the Challenge of Preparing Young Americans for the 21st Century
February 2011
“Nearly 70% of high school graduates now go to college within 2 years of graduation. Only 4 in 10 Americans have obtained either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree by their mid-twenties. 10% have earned a certificate. This is a sobering situation.
•56% complete a bachelor’s degree•30% complete an associate’s degree
