Licensing is the process of the owner of the intellectual property leasing a legally protected (trademarked or copyrighted)
entity to the licensee under a contractual agreement to extend a brand or intellectual property into different product
categories for an agreed upon time period in particular territories to obtain “Royalty”. Royalty will be part of the licensed
properties revenue. The key benefit for the licensor is the ability to enhance its brand or property and expand its reach.
Licensing can do this by creating brand awareness and generating more revenue.
What is Licensing?
Licensor:The owner or agent of the intellectual property (such as trademarks, brands, artworks, characters
and more) looking to extend their brand into different product categories. Licensors (brand owners)
exhibit at Licensing Expo China.
Intellectual Property:brands, trademarks, artworks, characters, intellectual properties, and more.
Licensee:The renter of the property or trademark that pays a royalty to the licensor on every product that is sold.
Licensees attend Licensing Expo China.
Retailer:Retailers purchase the licensed IP product from the licensee to sell in their stores. Retailers attend
