Lima Foca Island

Our journey begins in Peru’s capital city. Our private tour will explore the Lima Cathedral (right), see an unparalleled collection of pre-Colombian artifacts at the Larco Museum, and much more.

Join Seacology representatives for an inside look at our first project in the nation of Peru, where we’re helping to protect more than 24,000 acres of marine habitat. Seacology’s Foca Island project is encouraging ecotourism to the island by funding a new visitors’ center in La Islilla. The facility will both educate visitors about the island’s unique geography and ecology—it lies at the point where the warm equatorial current and the cold Humboldt Current come together, creating a rich and unique marine ecosystem—and provide employment and revenue from handicraft sales for locals. In exchange, the community has pledged to help protect a large marine reserve around the island, where only local people using artisanal methods are allowed to fish. Our visit will coincide with the official opening of the visitors’ center.

Sacred Valley&Cuzco Machu Picchu

We’ll make our way from Cuzco to Machu Picchu, a trek through the Andean countryside of the Sacred Valley. We’ll meet traditional weavers and come face to face with Peru’s iconic llamas, alpacas, and other wildlife at the Living Museum of Awanakancha. We’ll explore the Inca ruins at Moray, the terraces of Maras, and more. We’ll pass through the world-famous market at Pisac.

Following our night at Machu Picchu, we’ll return to Cuzco to explore the imperial city’s rich history. We’ll visit Sacsayhuaman, site of an epic battle between the Incas and Conquistadors.

We will climb though the clouds by train and bus to one of the New Great Wonders of the World, Machu Piccu. We’ll spend two days at Peru’s most iconic destination, spending the night at the only hotel adjacent to the trailhead to the Inca Citadel. Expert private guides will take us through the ancient city and offer us our pick of trails to explore.
