The Association for International PMOs (AIPMO) is a professional association for project, programme, and portfolio o�ce leaders, managers and sta� who de�ne, establish, run or work within PMOs across di�erent industry sectors.

The IPMO certi�cations from AIPMO are designed for leaders; managers and core PMO team members in Project, Programme and Portfolio O�ces responsible for the determination of PMO needs, business justi�cation, design, establishment, running including the retirement of PMOs.

AIPMO's mission is to advance the understanding, design and implementation of high performing single, group and enterprise PMOs, through the certi�cation of proven PMO capabilities based on its IPMO Body of Knowledge.

IPMO Expert Certification

The IPMO-E certification is an intensive 5 day course for PMO Directors; PMO Managers; PMO Consultants and senior practitioners in project, programme and portfolio management with expertise in PMO. The course is designed to inform, challenge and invoke discussion and debate. The course includes a two hour exam on the final day. Successful learners are awarded the IPMO-Expert Certification - IPMO-E and join a growing alumni.

IPMO Practitioner Certification

The IPMO-P certification is also a 5 day course for PMO Managers; PMO Consultants and experienced core PMO team members. The course is designed to inform and challenge through lecture; exercises and discussion.Includes one hour thirty minute exam on the final day.Successful learners are awarded the IPMO-PractitionerCertification - IPMO-P.

IPMO Foundation Certification

The IPMO-F certification is a 4 day course for core PMO team members. The course is designed to inform and increase knowledge of PMOs through lecture; exercises and discussion. Includes one hour exam on the final day. Successful learners are awarded the IPMO-FoundationCertification - IPMO-F.

Gain an overview of the terms used within and around the PMO and project management environment, that are needed as a foundation of understanding of PMOs and project management. Understand the content of the work environment(s) and understand what is required to become an effective PMO team and project member. Topics including organisational structures, success factors, success criteria, project methodology types, pros and cons, all of which help to build confidence.

Most attendees of this course should have a good understanding of PMOs, projects and programmes and some will go further with an understanding of business strategy and the implementation of the strategy using project portfolio management. This module helps to recap many of the topics required to be an effective PMO, Manager and introduces topics that are important in your understanding and explaining. The history of PMOs is also covered to help understand where they have originated and this in turn will provide some context to where PMOs could go in terms of services and capabili-ties in an organisational context.

High level overview of the context with relevant topics covered that PMO experts are impacted by. This module covers themes required to be an effective PMO Director but also applies to Portfolio Managers. PMOs especially strategic and enterprise PMOs need to fit into the higher levels of the organisation and the PMO expert should understand the challenges and demands at this level.

An introduction to the PMO Lifecycle and how it works, in this module the topics of business strategy is also introduced, alongside governance and the concept of networked PMOs.

Module - PMO Success and Maturity

Module - Run, Monitor and Control Services

Understand to how best to run, control and monitor the PMO but managing and develop the team to deliver the agreed services. Identify and troubleshoot issues with project and programme delivery. Includes developing the service catalogue; PMO operations handbook; supporting troubled projects; assessing project and programme capability maturity levels; managing and controlling quality.

Design and optimise the control framework through monitoring PMO services across the organisation and their contribution to the strategy execution. Identify and troubleshoot issues with PMO issues related to strategy execution. In addition to Practitioner includes; supporting underperforming PMOs and competence assessment and development.

Understanding what makes a PMO successful - how to view success and insights into the current research on PMO success.

In addition includes PMO Maturity; how to define maturity; maturity models; defining maturity metrics; supporting the assessment process; defining the ‘to-be’ state and analysing gaps.

Understanding the connection between PMO success and PMO maturity is also covered.
