Summary
© 2008 Aker Solutions part of AkerSlide 30
How can the technology benefit Aker Solutions?
■ Internally the technology can improve efficiency, increase productivity and provide for more efficient project execution
■ Reduce losses on expensive equipment■ Reduce project costs through efficient use of personnel■ Improved control related to governmental regulations■ Improved data quality
© 2008 Aker Solutions part of AkerSlide 31
Key Success criteria’s
■ Customer involvement■ Clear scope definition and clear on what is not a part of the scope■ Clear view of deliverables■ Use experience from last project■ Change control■ Approval of all sprints■ Financial monitoring and follow up■ Regular meetings and reporting

Summary
■ Establish a mobile strategy■ Keep it simple!!!
● It’s not possible to solve everything at once
■ Standardize the mobile platform● Infrastructure● Hardware● Device management● OS● Operations● Applications● Security
■ The mobile world is still immature, but groving fast!
© 2008 Aker Solutions part of AkerSlide 33
Automatic data capture in the oil and gas industry
■ We want the focus on work processes rather than technology
■ Data collection identifiers can be both: ● Barcodes● RFID
■ RFID in the oil and gas is not used to the same extent as in retail and other industries
■ Hardware limitations, both PDAs and RFID tags (metal & water)● Standardization for oil and gas with regard to tags and PDA not
mature● Combination between RFID tag and PDA provides few possible
variations ● UHF technology not mature for offshore so far● LF technology short read distance
