Make sure that the user account that you are using to restore the site database is in the "Distributed COM Users" account on your Name Generator server. If both of these check out, then the wrong username / password may have been used when installing the Name Generator service. In that case, the best thing to do is to *DELETE* the Name Generator service and recreate it based on instructions in the Project Management User's Guide. Hope this helps! Amit Amit T. Smartplant 3D Administrator Quite few reason for this error. Assuming the name generator is up and running, try the following. 1. Reinstall the name generator software. 2. Try a different machine with name generator on. Do ensure the name generator component service is started. If there's a username password issue, it will crop up here. 1. If the name gen machine is another subnet, ensure it can be pinged from all client machines. Try DTCping from Microsoft and see if the DTC handshake is without any error. 2. Ensure the name resolution of forward and reverse DNS is correct. From a client machine, ping the name generator. Now issue command ping -a <IP address of the name generator>. Confirm the hostname returned matches. 3. The table refdatserverpath table in site and model database should reflect the same name generator name. This requires a bit more research especially in case of multiplants as discovered by my dear colleague Kevin Dmonte, MIE (AUST) P. Eng. 6. Check firewall setting
