Marketplace 2018
Signature ArtistParrish Brown Hoag
Sitting in her exposed-brick studioin Virginia Highlands, ParrishBrown Hoag, this year’s featured
signature artist, reminisced about herearliest memories of Marketplace.
“As a child, I’d go with my mother tothe Civic Center when she volunteeredfor Marketplace,” she says. “This eventhas been a part of the holiday seasonfor me all of my life.
Parrish, the daughter of Clarissaand Pepper Brown, MD, hasalways been an artist, spendinghours in her craft room as a child.Even after graduating fromGeorgia Tech with a degree inBusiness Administration andworking in downtown Atlanta, shewould find herself pulling out herpaint brushes to relax and restoreherself. One day in early 2017, she
and her husband sat enjoying lattes atone of their favorite neighborhoodcoffee shops just off the BeltLine inAtlanta.
“We were discussing our goals for theyear; and Chris suggested I blend mycreative drive and business skills to startmy fine art business. Thanks to hisencouragement and the support ofmany others, I now have the honor ofcreating artwork for wonderful clients.”
Parrish’s fine art paintings are inspiredby nature, traveling and the peace shefeels when she’s outdoors.
“Painting reminds me to live freely,” shesays, “and to embrace freedom in theprocess. My hope is that followers ofmy art share in that refreshment and peace.”
