CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE
Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS
Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-
179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit.
Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the
deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided.
The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly
care is $4 per hour; payment must be made in advance. This service may
be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care.
Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in
advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space
limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed
Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments
will be refunded.

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE
Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between
CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE
childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would
like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service
your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must
be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

ARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDING
Do you want a better understanding of the
Army life? The Army Family Team Building
(AFTB) classes will help you to not just
cope with, but also understand, military life.
With AFTB you will gain the knowledge and
self-confidence to take responsibility for
yourself and your family while your sponsor is
away. It’s training for a way of life that prepares
you in America’s Army to function at the highest level. Many of these
courses can be applied toward college credits, resume/career building,
and self-development. Classes are FREE and open to the public.
Classes consist of three levels and you are encouraged to take all three.

HIRED! APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM: REGISTRATION
The Pippin Youth Center’s HIRED! is an apprenticeship program offered
through the CYS Services that is designed to meet the workforce-
preparation and secondary education needs of eligible youth. HIRED! is
FREE and open to registered youth in grades 9-12. Must be able to work
15 hours per week to earn $500 and must register by March 8. The Pippin
Youth Center is located in Bldg. 9625 Young Street.

2013 SHAMROCK SHUFFLE 5K: REGISTRATION
The Davidson Fitness Center is hosting the 2013
Fort Leonard Wood Shamrock Shuffle 5K on March 16.
Cost is $15 for early registration and $20 the day of.
T-shirts will be given to registered participants. This is a fun
and exciting way to get involved in some physical activity. Awards for
overall male and female finisher as well as all age group winners. Come

TASTE OF THE ARTS GOES GREEN: ART WORK REGISTRATION
Family & MWR and the Arts & Crafts Frame Shop will be registering
original works of art in categories from drawing, painting, photography,
Mixed Media and photo1=SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera), photo 2 =DE
(Digitally Enhanced), photo 3 =DN (Digitally Manipulated) and sculpture.
Specialty category is "Recycled Art". Receive extra points in judging for
art work emphasizing on Recycling or Going Green. Art work will be
showcased at the Audie Murphy Community Center March 21 from 6:00
pm - 8:00 pm. Cost to register is $5 per artwork for adults / FREE for
children ages 5 & up. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 artists in each
age category. Age categories are 18 yrs. & older, children in grades
Kindergarten-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th. Judging will take place prior
to the event. All wall mounted art work must be wired and ready to hang.
No special installations and no ceiling mounted works. Registration for
artwork is open to the public. Register your artwork at the Frame Shop

SINGLE PARENT SUPPORT BOWLING SPECIAL
Daugherty Bowling Center during the month of March would like to offer
this special to our single parents. Sunday thru Thursday from 4:30 pm –

Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting their Advanced Green Fees Drive.

The HIRED! Apprenticeship prerequisite training program is in session
from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. The HIRED! Prerequisite training program will
train youth in resume building, job application, and professional image,

matters. HIRED! is FREE and open to youth in grades 9-12 ages 15-18.

THE SEVEN HABITS OF A 24/7 DAD
Army Community Services will be hosting “The Seven Habits of a 24/7
Dad”. Learn what a 24/7 dad is and how to provide love, nurturance,
guidance, and support “around the clock.”Identify the role you want to
play in the lives of your children and the kind of impact you want to have
on their lives. Class is open to authorized patrons. Class will be held at

GREAT SPRING CLEANING FMWR YARD SALE: REGISTRATION
Need to get rid of some items? Fort Leonard Wood’s Great Spring
Cleaning Yard Sale on April 6 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the
Baker Theater auxiliary parking lot. Cost is $10 if registered by
April 5 at 3:00 pm / $15 day of, includes two parking spots. Tables
are available for $5 each and must be reserved by April 5. Registration
will take place at the central issue desk inside the Davidson Fitness
Center. Yard sale is open to the public. Fort Leonard Wood Thrift Shop
will be on site to collect donations until 12:00 pm. The following items
cannot be sold: weapons, food items, retail items (Avon, Tupperware,
Scentsy etc.)

Family & MWR will be hosting Bunco beginning at 7:00 pm at the
Pershing Community Center. Join in on this fun dice game and win great
prizes. Prizes will be awarded for the most wins and most losses.

FREE and open to authorized personnel. Must be 18 yrs. and older to
play. Additional prizes may be added or substituted at the discretion of

SOCCER SKILLS CAMP
Enroll your youth for Soccer Skills Camp instructed by former college
division 1 soccer players. Soccer Camp is open to youth ages 9-12. Cost
is $20 per child. Participating youth will receive a t-shirt. Registration
deadline is March 8, space is limited to 50 spots, so sign up early. Youth

BASS TOURNAMENT
The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) will be hosting their
annual Bass Tournament starting at 7:00 am (or first safelight), weigh-in
is at 3:00 pm. Entry fee per boat is $40 and an optional $10 fee for Big
Bass. Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center or LORA for entry

HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS
The Arts and Crafts Frame Shop is hosting High Dynamic Range
Photography Class. This workshop focuses on advanced camera settings
and software post processing to get a HDR image. You will also learn to
record details in both the shadow and highlight areas of an image. Bring

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS
The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons
Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including
weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo
ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver
(plus minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All
handguns must be in good working condition. Class is open to the public
21 yrs. and older. Interested patrons must be registered the day prior to
each class at the Outdoor Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K

Individuals bringing a privately owned weapon onto the installation for
authorized activities such as hunting, dog training activities or
marksmanship events, are required to register weapons. Privately owned
weapons can be registered between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, at the Main Gate Visitor’s Center, Building 100.

5th ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT
Infants and children are invited to Family & MWR’s 5th Annual Easter
Egg Hunt beginning promptly at 10:00 am. The hunt is for the following
age categories: 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years and 10-12 years. Egg
hunt will take place at the Colyer Park located on Nebraska Avenue.
Venue opens at 9:00 am with a photo opportunity visit from the Easter

PARENTING FROM THE HEART - SESSION 3
Army Community Services is hosting session 3 of Parenting From the
Heart every Monday from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. Parenting From the Heart is
a 6 week parenting class that covers topics such as positive guidance
techniques, discipline, communication, sibling rivalry, and parenting
styles. Army Community Services is located in Bldg. 486 Replacement

relationships are affected by anger. Classes will be held at Army

COMBATIVES TOURNAMENT
Fort Leonard Wood is hosting the MSCoE Combatives Tournament at
Davidson Fitness Center at 5:30 pm, doors open 4:30 pm. The
Combatives Tournament is open to Active Duty Soldiers, all Service
Branches, National Guard and Reservists. Army Combatives is a
functional, mixed martial art form combining Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing,
clinch hitting, takedowns and ground-fighting techniques. The fighters will
compete in several weight classes within a graduated set of rules. Event
is FREE and open to the public. Preliminary matches March 28 at Shea
Gym. Winners will advance to the All Army Competition at Fort Carson,

Family & MWR will be accepting bids on displayed NAF water craft April

will be awarded and posted at Bldg 2347 on April 5th after 12:30pm.

CYS Services Youth Sports & Fitness program will host a Youth
Baseball/Softball Clinic May 1 & 2 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Cost is $20
per child, includes t-shirt. Youth will have the opportunity to learn new
skills and get ready for baseball/softball season. Clinic will take place at
Hill Topper Field. Clinic is open to registered youth ages 4-13. Youth

CYS Services Youth Sports and Fitness Youth Baseball/Softball and T-
ball program begins May 6. Cost is $45 per participant, includes uniform
and trophy. Youth must have a current physical, good through the end of
the season, turned in with registration. Child must be registered with the
CYS Services. Registration will take place at the Parent Central Services
office located inside Bldg. 470, Rm. 1126, office hours are 7:30 am – 4:30
pm. Practice begins May 7 / Season runs from May 7 – June 30.

Army Community Services is hosting Infant Massage from 10:00 am –
11:00 am. Learn basic strokes of infant massage to encourage nurturing
touch and bonding between infants and their parents. Infant massage
promotes better sleep, less crying and relaxation. This is ideal for parents

TABLE TENNIS CLUB
Fort Leonard Wood Youth Sports & Fitness and Pippin Youth Center are
teaming up to offer a Table Tennis Club. The club is FREE to any
registered child in 6th through 12th grade. The club will meet on Saturday
afternoons from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm at the Pippin Youth Center. All
athletes will receive one on one training to help improve their game. All
levels of skill are welcome. Participants will train to try and become the
Fort Leonard Wood champion and ultimately represent Fort Leonard
Wood at the Show Me Games. To register for the Pippin Youth Center

Join the CYS Services Child Development Center in celebrating
Month of the Military Child in their 19th Annual Fun Fair from
11:00 am – 3:00 pm., lots of activities, door prizes, give-a-ways, and
FREE food. The fun fair promotes family wellness, child development,
parenting skills through a variety of fun interactive activities. Event is

PT IN THE WOODS
Celebrate the Month of the Military Child with your children with a 30-
minute aerobic workout for Service Members and their families at the
Gerlach Track from 6:30 am-7:30 am. First 100 children receive a FREE
t-shirt and all active duty parents that participate will receive a voucher

The Commander’s Golf Scramble will be hosted by the Piney Valley Golf
Course with a 1:30 pm shotgun start. Scramble consists of a 4 person

qualify during the time trials for the Fort Leonard Wood Army Ten Miler
Team. The team will consist of Active Duty Service Members from Fort
Leonard Wood. The fastest 6 runners will be part of the FLW Team in the
Active Duty Mixed (men and women) category. Representatives will fly to
Washington D.C. to compete in this year’s Army Ten Miler – entry fee,

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS
The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons
Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including
weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo
ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver
(plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns
must be in good working condition. Class is open to the public 21 yrs.

The Frame Shop offers a one-on-one class. Learn to mat, mount, and
secure your artwork in a frame. Students are introduced to frame shop
equipment and safety procedures. You will also learn to choose the right
mat color, determine margins, frame joinery, mounting techniques, and
frame closures. Students will receive a frame shop card that allows you
to access the self-help area. Cost for class is $20 plus supplies. Must be
18 yrs. and older to participate. Must bring in your project you wish to

CYS SERVICES- THE “I’mAlone” PROGRAM
CYS Services offers I’mAlone, a FREE program to help prepare youth to
stay home alone. Youth will learn to increase personal safety skills,
demonstrate responsibility and other positive character traits, recognize
and handle emergencies, identify a Family & Friend Support System,
prepare nutritious snacks, and practice good decision making. Workshop
is held every 3rd Saturday at School Age Services, for youth ages 11 to
18yrs and parents. A $20 deposit is required and will be fully refunded
upon completion of the program. Call Parent & Outreach Services for

SKIESUNLIMITED
Gymnastics are offered to children and youth from 18 months to 18
years old. Classes are available Monday – Friday afternoons and
Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Martial Arts - Tae Kwon Do meets Monday and Wednesday evenings at

week for $35 per month or two times a week for $65 per month. Sign up
for 2 days a week class and you can attend Grand Master Prosser’s
Tuesday and Thursday classes in Rolla for FREE! Start-up fee is now
$75 (regular price, $159).

Dance – Pre-ballet and ballet I, II and III through the School of
Performing Arts are held on Thursdays between 1600 – 1900 for children

junior hip hop, and hip hop for school age children and youth. Cost is $40
per month.
Swimming – Swimming lessons for ages 6 months to 18 years old are
now being offered. Cost is $15.00 for Level I and $30.00 for Levels 2 and
3. Classes are held at Davidson Fitness Center.
Music and Movement – includes activities like creative movement,
finger plays and hands on activities with child sized instruments.
Available for children ages 3 -5 years. Cost is $40.00 for eight 1 hour,
