1. What is the type of study support available? You have an option of face to face revision classes in partnership with FTMS or online study.

2. How long will it take to prepare for the exams? Preparation for the case study exams will take about six to eight weeks.

3. When do I sit for the exam? There are four windows a year when you can sit for the case study exams (February; May; August; and November).

4. Where do I sit for the exam? You can sit for the exam at any of the Pearson Vue test centres nearest to you.

5. What is the structure of the exam? The exam is computer-based and it is three hours long. It is set within a simulated business context relating to one or more fictionalised organisations and it is based on a real industry.

Six weeks before the actual exam, CIMA issues the case study pre-seen material. It gives you an opportunity to preview the case study and learn about the industry. On the real exam day, the ‘unseen material’ will be provided to you, with questions that you will need to answer. The case study incorporates calculations, short answers and essays. Its focus is on application, analysis and evaluation.

6. How do I become a CIMA member and a CGMA designation holder? After successfully completing all the CIMA exams including the final Strategic Case Study exam, you must submit an application for CIMA membership. Once your membership application is approved, you will be admitted as a member of CIMA and become a CGMA designation holder.

“What organisations need today are professionals who bring both a good breadth of understanding of the challenges that businesses face and a significant depth of expertise they can draw from to help the organization deal with those challenges. I find that CIMA qualified professionals bring heaps of both qualities and are therefore highly valued no matter where they go. The challenge for them is to be able to remain so by leveraging on their CIMA training to keep abreast with the disruptions that many businesses are facing today.”
