Introduction:

Rua de Ourem is one of the main arterial roads of Panaji City carrying mixed traffic throughout

the day. The street runs along the River Creek on one side and heritage conversion zone which

is an important part of ABD chosen by Panaji under the Smart City Mission. The particular

stretch of Rua de Ouren described in existing situation report is 1.61 kilometer long and

stretches between junction near Old Patto Bridge and 4 Pillars Junction in Mala.

The characteristics along the stretch is mainly institutional and mixed land use (residential

cum commercial) along the western side of the street. Further, on the Eastern side the creek

runs along the street for a major length. Details are provided in Annexure I. The street has a

footpath on both sides along the entire stretch with storm water drains running parallel to

footpaths. There is significant encroachment mainly by unauthorized parking.
