WHEN DOES A BATTERY NEED CHARGING?Keeping a battery well charged extends its service life and you can be assured it will work properly. The acid density in the cells decreases gradually, both when in use and during storage. Consequently the open circuit voltage also falls. A fully charged battery has a voltage of about 12.7 V, and if this falls to 12.4 V the battery needs charging. Keep your battery in good condition by checking the voltage from time to time and performing a maintenance charge as required.

A few useful tips for long-term storage:

- The battery should be fully charged when put into storage

- Store the battery in a cool, dry place to reduce self-discharge

- Remember that a discharged battery can freeze and be ruined in cold winter temperatures

- Charge the battery if the voltage has fallen to 12.4 V

CHARGING IS EASY – HERE’S WHAT TO DOMake sure the battery is clean and dry, particularly around the terminals. Spilt water, oil, rust and other soiling can encourage self-discharge. Using an Exide charger is easy:

Connect the charger’s mains plug to a power socket.

Connect the charger’s red cable clamp to the battery’s positive terminal post (+), and the black cable clamp to the battery’s negative terminal post (-).

Select the correct mode, battery size (Ah) and battery technology (AGM/GEL or standard battery). Or 13.7 V Supply.

When the green lamp lights for the selected mode, the battery is fully charged.

WHEN DOES A BATTERY NEED CHARGING?Keeping a battery well charged extends its service life and you can be assured it will work properly. The acid density in the cells decreases gradually, both when in use and during storage. Consequently the open circuit voltage also falls. A fully charged battery has a voltage of about 12.7 V, and if this falls to 12.4 V the battery needs charging. Keep your battery in good condition by checking the voltage from time to time and performing a maintenance charge as required.

A few useful tips for long-term storage:

- The battery should be fully charged when put into storage

- Store the battery in a cool, dry place to reduce self-discharge

- Remember that a discharged battery can freeze and be ruined in cold winter temperatures

- Charge the battery if the voltage has fallen to 12.4 V

CHARGING IS EASY – HERE’S WHAT TO DOMake sure the battery is clean and dry, particularly around the terminals. Spilt water, oil, rust and other soiling can encourage self-discharge. Using an Exide charger is easy:

Connect the charger’s mains plug to a power socket.

Connect the charger’s red cable clamp to the battery’s positive terminal post (+), and the black cable clamp to the battery’s negative terminal post (-).

Select the correct mode, battery size (Ah) and battery technology (AGM/GEL or standard battery). Or 13.7 V Supply.

When the green lamp lights for the selected mode, the battery is fully charged.
