Who We Are

Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is the voice of Canada’s publicly-supported colleges, institutes, cegeps and

polytechnics, and an international leader in education for employment with ongoing programs in over 25 countries.

CICan’s members add over $190B to Canada’s economy each year and contribute to inclusive economic growth

by working with industry and community partners to offer more than 10,000 programs to learners in urban, rural,

remote, and northern communities.

CICan Corporate Alliance Partners

The Location

A striking union of European charm and North American attitude, Montréal seduces visitors with a

harmonious pairing of the historic and the new, from exquisite architecture to fine dining.

The world’s second largest francophone city after Paris, it merits the moniker ‘international’ city, a

cosmopolitan centre with proud roots in the past that enthusiastically embraces the future. A world

leader in such industries as aeronautics, information technology and biotechnology, the city has also

made significant innovations in medicine, multimedia, the arts and urban planning. Its avant-garde spirit

has not gone unnoticed: in 2006, Montréal was named a UNESCO City of Design.

The Palais des congrès de Montréal houses versatile and ultramodern facilities for holding conventions,

conferences, meetings, galas and exhibitions right in the heart of a sustainable destination.

The Event

CICan’s Connection Conference – Collective Intelligence!

CICan’s Annual Conference is the largest event of its kind in Canada! It fosters connections

between post-secondary institutions from all across the country and around the world. In

2020, these connections will focus on strengthening our collective intelligence.

Knowing how to use and leverage all forms of intelligence is essential to the development of

both individuals and societies. By using a holistic and creative approach to meet the needs

of a diverse student population, colleges and institutes help foster individual and collective

intelligence. This theme resonates with our amazing host city, Montréal, renowned as a hub

of cultural, environmental, and artificial intelligence!

Supporting our overall theme are the streams that work together to round out the experience at CICan Connection:

What is Braindate? Participants attend CICan Connection to make connections and learn about new things. But how do we help catalyze these meaningful conversations? We set up braindates that allow attendees to explore the topic market—where participants post the knowledge they are willing to share or topics they want to explore using the Braindate platform. Braindate hosts an app and on-site concierge service, including a welcoming lounge to host 1:1 or group braindates.

For more information on Braindate, please visit the Braindate Website.
