Exercise s 11.1 In our organization we are using 90 switches to establish networks, these switches connect with the help of fiber optics backbone and for remote connectivity we are using wireless bridges in all over the organization, these switches and bridges were installed on the basis of user load or numbers of node allocate in building/plant and each building/plant have their own start topology network, these networks switches connect with Ring topology or Bus topology, which create Network for organization, now currently 250 terminals are using for communication, but the availability of maximum installed nodes are 900 which were installed and able to communicate but in availability of maximum ports are 1800, its means in Pakistan Steel we vacant 900 ports for future expansion, other installed computers attached with switch or remote tower on the basis of requirement of that building / section/ department, other vacant ports are reserve for future expansion and for changing the location of terminal from one place to another place. The remote location use where distance is far from the head office /server room, Remote location connect with the speed of 100Mbps, now the number of user lesser on each remote location consist on 15 to 20 users, remote connectivity data rate is depend upon the link, weather, atmosphere of the location and the distance of the tower, Each switch having 24 or 48 ports, theses switches were installed with the provision of future expansion in that particular location. The network administrator can change the path of the computer for distribute traffic load on the same segment, distribution may enhance the communication link and reduce / mitigate errors from the communication between terminal and the Mainframe. Exercise s 17.1 In Pakistan Steel we are using different bandwidth internet connection this is based up on the location requirement, we have 4Mb bandwidth line (shared) and 2 Mb/sec bandwidth two lines and one public link for ZSOs remote connectivity which keep connect or establish continuous connectivity with Zonal Offices with secure link this link establish with th e help of VPN. Second 2Mb link directly connect with Z-10 series for monitoring and software updating patches and get technical supports from IBM online. The 4Mb link is used for proxy connectivity, which is dedicate for top management and where is required, 4Mb Bandwidth is not 100% allocate to a particular Director/ GM but it is allocate on the basis of usage of that particular Department requirement and the need of the online supports. Proxy server also is also updating all users software and anti viruses as well. In Pakistan Steel these link bandwidth are maximum utilize, even we are using 20 NTC link with the bandwidth of 1Mbps, these connection are using where we are using along Personal Computers or in the office of Directors, GM, DGM and where technical online support is required.
