Morgan and my original work probably could not have been more different. His work

was all hand-made watercolor paintings that he made for his girlfriend. All of the music was in

French, and all of the paintings were of the same scene at different times. My images were all

from the Internet, each image extremely different from the next. Other than all of the songs being

by female artists, there was not too much continuity between the songs. The theme of my project

was a break-up. The differences though made swapping projects interesting, and distinct from

each of our original work.

With my piece, Morgan described being especially captivated by the image of the male

on the left. He looked at the image and thought of the male’s face and the female scene as a type

of warning against talking to strangers. Morgan wanted to mostly use the original image and

change the meaning. To keep consistent with the look of the work, he choose an image from the

Internet, a sign warning against strangers. He cut out the male face and added it into the driver’s

side of the car. I was impressed with the way he used the original image to create something

slightly comical and meaningful.

I wanted to create something simple with Morgan’s work, to do something distinctly

different from mine. I took his original image and isolated the mountains. I cut out an original

piece and then two overlapping cutouts. I tried to line it up so you might think it would be a

continuous mountain range, but then notice the slight differences. The go along with the slight

difference I made a slight gradient in the color change. I decided on the title of Moving

Mountains, because of the shift in the mountain range, as well as the idea of changing over time

that was part of Morgan’s original project.
