TEMU ILMIAH INTERNASIONAL MAHASISWA INDONESIA 2011 Indonesian Students’ International Scientific Meeting 2011 “Sustaining Renewable Energy in Indonesia: Challenges and Opportunities from Multidisciplinary Perspectives” London, 25 – 27 November 2011 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY TIIMI 2011 TIIMI is one of the professional events that held annually by PPIUK (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di UK). It aims to provide a forum for Indonesian scholars who study both in Indonesia and overseas to exhibit and share their research results to other Indonesian scholars as well as companies/institutions. This event may allow brilliant scholars to be exposed to the opportunities that they may not have had otherwise, and may lead to future collaborations between the scholars, general public, general decision makers, and stakeholders. TIIMI is also organised with the purpose of increasing the awareness of the issues relating to the scarcity of energy supply and the development of renewable energy in Indonesia. This year will be the 11 th times since TIIMI was first held in 1999. As an international event, we are inviting international class reviewers consisting of Indonesian lecturers and professionals who are experts in their fields. They are identified as those who have outstanding achievements and experiences in the UK academic world. Our committee members consists of dedicated Indonesian scholars who come from different levels of education, from High School to Ph.D. This shows how diverse our team is and at the same time it also shows that regeneration is happening in the body of PPIUK. To increase the exposure of the scholars, we are also inviting world-class keynote speakers from Business, Government, Academic and lastly, NGO (Non-government Organisation) to share their visions and ideas to the participants and audiences of the event. The chosen theme for TIIMI 2011, which is “Sustaining Renewable Energy in Indonesia: Challenges and Opportunities from Multidisciplinary Perspectives” shows that we as young generation are aware that Indonesia as one of the developing countries in the world, needs massive supply of energy to keep the growth in all aspects rolling in the future. With finite oil supplies on one hand and the constant growth of the world population on the other, means that the demand for alternative energy resources is increasing. Although the theme may sound very technical at a glance, we wish to cover not only the science and engineering component of the theme, but also other important elements such as the social, economy, policy making, and also the sustainability side of the theme. Therefore, we believe that the 11 th TIIMI that is going to be held at KBRI (Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia) London, UK from 25 th to 27 th November 2011 will make a concrete contribution towards the future of Indonesia’s supply of energy, which will have significant effects to all aspects of our lives, from health and education issues to social and politic issues. In short, TIIMI 2011 is indeed designed as a well-rounded event incorporating different dimensions of the society and has a clear aim to bring Indonesian scholars and professionals together for the betterment of Indonesia. Let TIIMI 2011 become an interesting as well as memorable event for the Indonesian young generation who are spread all around the world.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY TIIMI 2011

TIIMI is one of the professional events that held annually by PPIUK (Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di UK).

This year will be the 11th times since TIIMI was first held in 1999.

Therefore, we believe that the 11th TIIMI that is going to be held at KBRI (Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia) London, UK from 25th to 27th November 2011 will make a concrete contribution towards the future of Indonesia’s supply of energy, which will have significant effects to all aspects of our lives, from health and education issues to social and politic issues.
