A Nugget From My Spiritual Journey… Most ladies have a sorta love/”hate” response to the Proverbs 31 Lady! Who thinks they can keep up with that paragon of virtue in just about every area of life? When does that lady ever sleep??? She stays busy at home and throughout her community, compassionately and competently meeting needs wherever she goes. Her talents, gifts, and influence seem endless. Yet, she had none of the mechanical blessings we all seem to have today. Years ago, when our young children were all tucked into bed at night, I would fall into bed exhausted, wishing for “servant girls” to help! Then I would chuckle and say quietly to Russell in the dark, “Well, I have all of my ‘servant girls’ working...the dishwasher is washing our dishes and I have a load in the washer and one in the dryer!” I would have cooked our meal on a modern stove with food from the grocery store, kept in my refrigerator or freezer. Clothing and home décor were often created on my trusty sewing machine! I had run all of my errands in a car, comfortable with either heat or air condi-tioning! Most of my ‘servant girls’ were mechanical, not human! Yet...had I also met the needs of my family and my community with unending compas-sion and creativity? Had I loved others during the day as Christ loves me? Those were—and are—the real criteria of a ‘successful day.’ Then came the days of computers, smart cell phones, social media, and digital appliances and cars. We can communicate with anyone in the world at a second’s notice. Suddenly the learning curve for all of us kicked into high gear. We now must also skillfully learn how to use and afford all of those devices, speak (and abbreviate) the lingo, and know where to go for help when these ‘conveniences’ don’t work right and are temporarily inconvenient! Yet...daily I must still ask...have I met the needs of my family and commu-nity with unending compassion, creativity, and Christlike love? If not, all of the ‘smart’ devices in the world won’t help! Where do we go for help when LIFE breaks down? Straight into God’s arms and His Word! Then, perhaps one day, our husbands, children, grandchildren and commu-nities will rise up and call us ‘blessed’...and they won’t need a smart phone to do it!

Acts 13:47 On his first missionary journey, the apostle Paul finds himself in the city of Pisidian, Antioch. They were preaching Jesus and the resurrection (vv. 30, 33, 34, 37). The response which Paul received was very significant (v. 44). It was at this point that God told Paul to move from preaching to the Jews to the Gentiles. Verse 47, in particular, could be seen as God’s command for a committed man. Notice the three principles drawn from this text:
I. FIND THE PLACE to which God leads you (v. 47a “I have placed you…”) A. It will be a place where your MINISTRY IS NEEDED (v. 15) B. It will be a place where your MESSAGE IS NEEDED (vv. 42-43) C. It may be a place where the MESSENGER IS MISTREATED (vv.45-50) II. FULFILL THE PURPOSE for which God has called you (v. 47b “...as a light to the Gentiles, that you should bring salvation…”) A. We are to SPREAD GOD’S WORD TO THE WORLD (v. 47) B. We are to SUPPORT GOD’S WORK THROUGH THE CHURCH (v. 52) III. FOCUS ON THE PROJECTION in which God will use you (v. 47c “...to the end of the earth.”) A. God’s Word is projected through THE WHOLE CITY (v. 44)-Acts 1:8a B. God’s Word is projected through THE WHOLE REGION (v. 49)-Acts 1:8b C. God’s Word is projected through THE WHOLE WORLD (v. 47c) Acts 1:8c
What then is God’s command to committed men and women? ...to you? How committed are you to His command? 1. Find the PLACE to which God leads you! 2. Fulfill the PURPOSE for which God calls you! 3. Focus on the PROJECTION in which God will use you!

Word of Encouragement “Reclaim The Glory For God and His Church”
For many years in Southern Baptist churches we have used the terms “plateaued” or “declining” to describe weak or dying congregations. For the most part–at least over the last 40-50 years–we have forgotten about those churches and assumed our primary responsibility was to start new churches. In our attempt to plant many new churches we have, to a great degree, ne-glected those plateaued or declining. Ironically, the resources needed to plant new churches were coming from the older, established, albeit declining churches. With the established churches becoming weaker and weaker, we have now come to a place where weak churches cannot afford to plant new churches-at least on a scale of the past. Thus, the need for a new term and a new wave for Southern Baptist. This term is “revitalization” or “replanting.” Mark Clifton is Senior Director of Re-planting/Revitalization at the North American Mission Board. When asked, “What is there about a dying church that brings glory to God?” Mark Clifton’s convicting answer is “nothing.” His book, Reclaiming Glory: Revitalizing Dy-ing Churches has brought new attention to this plaguing problem. Many churches in the SBC and in Oklahoma and in Pottawatomie-Lincoln Baptist Association have plateaued and/or declined. We are seeing a few churches doing well but many are baptizing fewer and fewer converts each year. Year-by-year attendance is going down. There are many reasons for the decline. But the one big solution is Revival. A genuine spiritual revival in the churches will lead to real revitalization. May God help us to follow and obey Him and His purpose for His church. Dear God, revive us again? (Psalm 85:6)
