Senior Services for South Sound , a non profit 501(c)3, located in Olympia, Washington is
seeking an Executive Director to join an amazing organization with a rich, longtime history
of providing excellent programs and services to the seniors in Thurston and Mason Counties.

What We Do
Eight nutritional sites, plus Meals on Wheels,
and two senior centers provide seniors with
dozens of personal growth classes, health and
wellbeing classes, trip opportunities, new
friends and many opportunities for making a
difference.
Client Services
Senior Services offers many programs such as Senior
Nutrition which ensures no senior goes hungry,
provides meals on wheels, community dining, and
nutrition consultation.
Care Connection provides people of all ages an
affordable, trusted reliable place to turn to when
needing a variety of assistance companionship,
personal care, support, dementia, specific needs, end
of life care and more.
Brighter Days Adult Care gives caregivers respite
while ensuring their loved one is in a safe, fun,
nurturing community.
Home Share provides alternative housing solutions
for those seeking or those who have housing
available.
Transportation provides seniors with trips to medical
appointments, important Senior Services programs
and other essential errands.

Senior Services for South Sound is located midway between Seattle and Portland. Thurston and Mason
Counties have populations of 300,000 and 65,000 respectively. Our services and programs are located in the
seat of state government, co-located with two community colleges and two universities. The South Sound
offers a rich art, music and theater scene, educational excellence and economic opportunity.
The strategic geographic location of Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater along the I-5 corridor allows any one to
travel easily and quickly to the mountains or ocean, to great outdoor experiences including national parks,
Cascade and Olympic Mountains, skiing, hiking, and to the urban centers of Seattle WA, Portland OR and
Vancouver BC.
Fifty-nine employees and a vibrant volunteer program consisting of 575 volunteers provides the numerous
programs and services to our seniors in Mason and Thurston counties. This year we’ve provided 38,630
congregate meals at our eight nutritional sites and 50,350 meals on wheels to seniors in their homes. We
traveled over 38,000 miles through September 2019 averaging 168 trips per month, providing
transportation rides to medical appointments and taking seniors on essential errands. These trips are for
seniors who are not located within the public transportation benefit areas of our communities. The drivers
are primarily volunteers.
We serve over 5,000 members; however, we provide services to all seniors in our communities.

plans, in partnership with the Board

Aligns strategies, develops staff, builds teams, organizes functions, determines priorities, and improves
processes to ensure program and service delivery to members
Ensures programs and services offered contributes to the organization’s mission and reflects the
priorities of the Board and the community
Stewards the organization’s financial resources and establishes short-and long-term financial plans
Works collaboratively with internal and external partners
Deepens and refines all aspects of communications with the goal of creating a stronger brand

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BA/B.S. in health or social services or health or social services administration or BA in Business
Administration. Masters Degree in health or social services is preferred. Must have five years of
demonstrated, progressive management in health or social services setting or ten years related
experience. Experience working with a nonprofit board of directors. Demonstrated ability to empower,
mentor, motivate and engage staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Senior Services for South Sound offers a competitive salary and a benefit package including
