Our Covid Commitment to youThe safety, welfare and wellbeing of our students has always been our number one priority, never more than during the current global pandemic. Our experienced operational team has been working hard to ensure additional, relevant, measures are in place for our EC Academy students in 2021.
ADAPT. DEVELOP. REMAIN POSITIVE. HAVE FUN.All staff are trained to deliver fun and effective summer school programmes. This year we are also including specific training on how to ensure students have fun and remain safe whilst working within the constraints of social distancing and Covid-19.
In addition we are introducing a designated Covid-Coordinator for each of our locations. This person is responsible for overseeing all Covid-19 testing requirements, possible isolation, and medical assistance related to Covid-19. They will work in coordination with our existing Welfare Managers and first aiders on site.
SAFETY WHILE LEARNING Student temperatures taken every day at the start of lessons
All classes risk assessed to ensure they comply with Covid-19 and social distancing requirements
Classroom furniture arranged to minimise risk of transmission and ensure social distancing is achievable
Hand sanitiser available in all classrooms
Face coverings, face masks and face shields worn in line with all local Government Guidelines
Signs posted prominently throughout the school as a reminder of the importance of social distancing and hygiene
No shared resources in any of our classrooms. All books will be sanitised and quarantined between use
Online testing and induction to avoid larger indoor gatherings
All students will remain in the same class and same seat to ensure quick tracing is available

locations should they be necessary

The Academy ExperienceOur experienced and friendly staff provide a positive learning environment for all our students. Students will practise their English language skills, make new friends from all around the world, and develop their passion through speciality courses.
At EC Academy, our high staff to student ratio provides students with focused attention both in their English classes and their chosen specialist activity, ensuring that they get the most out of their time at the school.
Outside of classes the students also have the opportunity to develop their non-academic pursuits with professional instructors and coaches in their chosen activity programme.

Welcome to Your SummerCreate the perfect summer experience of English language and sports, creative, and academic courses provided by professionally qualified teachers and coaches, set in the stunning grounds of our Academy locations.
Our Academies are set in some of the most beautiful locations across the globe and offer students the chance to experience life as a local student.
Wellington School is one of the most prestigious independent schools in the popular location of the South West of England. Set in a small market town in Somerset with excellent facilities, dating back to its founding in 1837 and is now considered a modern and forward-thinking educational establishment. Close to the county town of the region and bordering Somerset, Dorset, and Devon.
University of California Los Angeles is located in the hills surrounding Los Angeles where you can find a great student neighbourhood. UCLA is one of the most respected educational institutions in the USA, with alumni including the NBA superstar Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, George Takei from Star Trek, and Taylor Wang, the first Chinese-born astronaut.

Our Unique ProgrammesA unique blend of English language and specialist courses alongside a full programme of activities and excursions with students from all over the world – that is what makes the EC Academy experience something special.
With maximum class sizes of 12, and an on-site staff to student ratio of 1:5, students will get the personal attention they need to maximise their progress with EC Academy. The international environment in our academies is perfect for learning English and will encourage students to step outside their comfort zone.
As well as developing skills in the English language and their chosen specialist course, students will develop vital life skills through their participation in classes, activities and excursions. They will also get the opportunity to discover different cultures and explore new places which will boost their confidence and broaden their horizons in a supportive environment.
For ages 8 to 17, students can spend the summer creating memories of a lifetime.

Professional instructors will focus on developing students’ techniques and skills required to progress in their chosen specialised course with fun and enjoyable sessions. At EC Academy we strive to ensure that every student leaves with confidence in their newly developed or improved skills and with a real sense of achievement.
EXCURSIONSAll students go on two half-day and three full day activities every two weeks. Wellington School students can enjoy trips to the walking Banksy tour in Bristol and an excursion to Bath. Los Angeles is packed with action, from Disneyland to Santa Monica Pier!
A great addition to a summer of learningCHOOSE BETWEEN 11 DIFFERENT SPECIALISED COURSES
ACTIVITIESActivities are organised every evening to ensure students make friends, continue to put their English into practice, as well as develop important life skills.
Four afternoons a week, students will spend an hour in a whole-academy activity which is a great opportunity for existing students to meet new starters and catch up with friends they have already made. Evening activities range from talent shows and the Academy Carnival where students get to be creative and have fun, to quizzes and games which require students to use their teamwork and problem-solving skills. Our activity programmes also include a lot of different sports.

Your Home from Home
MEET-AND-GREET UPON ARRIVALEC Academy provides a dedicated meet-and-greet and transfer* service for all students to ensure a smooth arrival and transfer to centre.
DEPARTURE TRANSFERWe provide a departure transfer* for all students and our team will also assist students checking in at the airport.
24-HOUR SUPPORTAnyone who has questions or needs any kind of support can speak to our staff at the centre or contact our dedicated Academy 24-hour emergency telephone number.
GUARDME INSURANCEAll students travelling abroad must have adequate insurance in case of a medical or other emergency. EC Academy offers a comprehensive insurance policy called Guardme, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of international students.
* Students may be grouped together with others that are arriving at a
similar time unless specifically requested that they travel individually.
We place the highest priority on care and supervision at our Academy locations to ensure students feel relaxed, comfortable and supported - creating a home away from home.
STUDENT CARE AND WELFAREThe accommodation is made up of various boarding houses or single and shared rooms that are welcoming and comfortable.
Each Academy provides 24-hour pastoral care required for the students in their residence, waking them up every morning, making sure they eat well and are happy and participating.
MEALSA range of food is available at our Academy locations with three meals served per day. Additional snacks and drinks are also available twice a day on weekdays. On full-day excursions packed lunches will be provided.

Wellington School was founded in 1837. The school occupies a 35-acre site in the centre of the market town of Wellington.
Wellington has been a highly esteemed school since its beginning and continues this legacy today, offering excellent facilities for students. These include an indoor heated swimming pool, astro turf, tennis courts, state of the art sports hall, dance studio, playing fields for football, rugby and other field sports, an art studio, modern dining facilities and great study areas.
The local high street and shops are a short walk away. Trains run to London from two nearby train stations. Bristol and Bath are also nearby as is the famous town of Glastonbury, home to Glastonbury Abbey which is thought to be the burial place of legendary King Arthur.
ACCOMMODATIONAccommodation is in various boarding houses with mostly shared twin rooms and some single rooms and multi bedded dormitories for our youngest students.

Throughout the last 100 years, University of California Los Angeles has established its reputation as a “Public Ivy”, making it equivalent to an education from an Ivy League university. The location is in the centre of the city making it perfect to enjoy the best of living in Los Angeles. Students will enjoy the facilities of a huge university, including 16 dedicated recreational and athletic facilities, fitness centre, numerous swimming pools and much more!
All residences halls are a short walk away from each other and the paths between them are filled with numerous shops and options for food. Los Angeles is one of the most well-connected cities where you can enjoy trips to Disneyland, Las Vegas or even San Diego.

With swimming pools available as well as fantastic sports facilities and spacious grounds, our activities team organise a different combination of sports and activities every day to ensure a varied week.

Let your mind, body and soul climb on some of the best indoor walls created for specialist climbing. Over 4 days students will take part in a varied programme of climbing and bouldering for 2 hours each day. Located in state-of-the-art facilities available with the support of experienced and qualified instructors, students will enjoy:

Art & DesignDevelop your artistic abilities and creativity in a supportive environment with qualified and experienced art teachers.
Students will be trained in a variety of techniques and skills, and will be able to showcase the results to the rest of the school at the end of each week at the Academy Art Exhibition.
The course will take place in an art studio at the school, with occasional field trips or visits to a local art museum or exhibition.
All instructors are specialist art teachers whose qualifications and experience are recognised by British schools.

DanceLearn a variety of dance skills taught by professional dance teachers.
Dance offers a varied programme according to each student’s abilities, skills and interests. Classes cover free movement, contemporary, jazz, street dance and even choreography! The dancers will showcase all they’ve learned to other students at the weekly Academy Showcase.
Our teachers are all professionally qualified to teach at a variety of levels and disciplines, whether beginners or more advanced students of contemporary and commercial dance.

Horse RidingRide at an equestrian centre that offers a wealth of experience in fantastic locations.
Each student will receive an ability test on their first day at the equestrian centre. The professional instructors will create a programme adapted to the students’ abilities and select a horse or pony accordingly for the week.
Stable management will also be a part of the programme.

TennisA variety of skills and techniques taught by our professional coaches to help improve your game.
Each student will be evaluated on the first tennis session as to their level of play. Our professional coaches are all Lawn Tennis Association qualified with Level 2 or higher.
Our coaches will ensure that students learn and practise a variety of skills and techniques, including serving, volleys, shots and etiquette on the court.

Surfing With miles of beaches and reliable waves, it’s no wonder surfing has become an integral part of California’s identity. What better place to enjoy them than Surf City, USA!
On our surfing programme, students will start with basics of surfing including safety, basics and etiquette, as well as some practise. They will also learn about ocean ecology and conservation to complement their surfing practise.
Students can expect to enjoy at least 4 days per week out surfing, at least 2 hours each session. All of our instructors are certified members of The International Surfing Association (ISA) and will be there to help students every step of the way.

This exciting activity course could include, canoeing,kayaking, windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding or dinghy sailing. It gives the students the opportunity to try different watersport activities during the week and is run by qualified and experienced instructors on a beautiful Somerset Lake, specific for watersports. Students will learn basic safety and techniques. Bouyancy aids are provided.

This course will allow students to focus on developing their English skills, with time spent concentrating on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and communication through classroom activities and project work.
We use a mix of traditional teaching methods and technology (including interactive whiteboards) in the classrooms to ensure an engaging and dynamic class.
Our classrooms are multi-lingual, so students must use English to be understood. The course is overseen by a qualified Director of Studies.

This programme teaches a variety of subjects, including maths, science, art and humanities. It’s ideal for students who are currently at intermediate level English or above and who want to experience what it would be like to study in an English school or to prepare for further study at an English speaking school, college or university.
Students who book onto this programme will be asked to take a short level test in advance to verify they are intermediate level. If their level is seen to be less than intermediate, we will recommend an alternative, such as Intensive English.
