    Possible Installation Problems

Two known problems may occur during installation.

    Registration Name

When you enter an enabler for the NetWorker Module for Microsoft Exchange Server, the registration name may appear as Business Suite Module for Exchange. This occursbecause the NetWorker server controls the way the NetWorker Module softwaredisplays its product name.

If you are using the NetWorker 6.0 software on your NetWorker server, the registrationname for the Module software that is displayed is NetWorker Modulefor MicrosoftExchange Server. If you are using the NetWorker 5.7 software on your NetWorker server, the registration name for the Module software that is displayed is BusinesSuite Module

for Microsoft Exchange Server. The NetWorker Module software works properly, regardless of which product name is displayed.

    Setup Initialization Error

During installation you may see this error message:

    Insufficient memory to run setup

This message occurs on systems that have a large amount of memory and also have the/3GB switch in their boot.inifiles. If you encounter this error, set the default directoryto the Exchange setup\i386. Then run setup.exewith the -zoption:

    setup -z

For detailed instructions on using commands and switches, refer to the LegatoNetWorker Modulefor Microsoft Exchange Server Administrators Guide, Release 3.0. Fordetailed information, refer to Installshield Knowledge Base Article #Q101828, available

    at www.installshield.com .

Using Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) for Installation

NetWorker Module software supports the Microsoft Systems Management Server(SMS) installation system. You can use SMS to configure your system to automaticallyinstall NetWorker Module over an entire network.

    For best results:

    1. Set up the Exchange 2000 Server and SMS software before you install theNetWorker Module software. For detailed instructions, refer to the Microsoft SMSdocumentation.

    2. Do not configure the SMS server on a NetWorker server host. You can, however, configure the SMS server on a NetWorker client host.

    3. Test the SMS software before you install NetWorker Module software.

    17

NetWorker Module software installation under SMS consists of three main procedures:

Creating the NetWorker Module software application source directory ordirectories.

    Creating the SMS installation package.

Creating the job to install or uninstall the NetWorker Module software on theclient computer(s).

These procedures are described in the following sections.

How to Create Application Source Directories

To create the NetWorker Module software application source directory:

    1. Create a shared directory on one of the SMS site server's local disks. For example, for Intel_shared_dir_name,create a directory called nwme30i

    2. Copy all files from appropriate file on the NetWorker Module CD-ROM (i.e.,\MSEXCHNG\1386\NETWORKR) to the corresponding shared directory you

created for those files on the SMS site server disk.

How to Create the SMS Installation Package

Package Command Manager (PCM) can run under Windows in the foreground, or inthe background as a service.

To run background (unattended) installations, you must have PCM running as aWindows service on the target Windows client computer.

For more information about using PCM, refer to Microsoft knowledge base articleQ166765, Deploying Packages Successfully with the PCM Service.

To create the SMS installation package:

    1. Use the SMS Administrator program to open the Packages window at the SMS siteserver.

    2. From the File menu, select New to open the Package Properties dialog box.

    3. Click Import to open the File Browser dialog box.

    4. To configure the NetWorker Module software installation as an automated, background process requiring no user input, select Nwmsxchi.pdffrom theIntel_shared_dir_name directory on the SMS site server.

    5. Click OK to close the File Browser dialog box and return to the Package Propertiesdialog box.

    6. Click Workstations to open the Setup Package for Workstations dialog box.

    7. In the Source Directory field, enter your server name and shared directory name(s)as \ \ server_name\ Intel_shared_di r_name, where server_nameis the name of theSMS site server.

    8. Click Close to return to the Package Properties dialog box.

Important: Since the NetWorker Module software is automatically installed in thesame path as the NetWorker filesystem client, it is also installed on the local disk ofeach node in the cluster. Do not install the NetWorker filesystem client or theNetWorker Module software on a cluster disk.

To install and configure the NetWorker client software and the NetWorker Modulesoftware in a Microsoft cluster:

    1. Install the NetWorker client software and NetWorker Module for MicrosoftExchange Server software on the local disk of each physical node. It is best to usethe default NetWorker installation directory.

When you install the NetWorker client software, you have the opportunity to specify the

names of the NetWorker server hosts that may be used to back up the cluster.

    2. Install the enabler for the NetWorker Module software on the NetWorker serverhost. For details on how to do this, see Enabling and Registering Software onpage 20.
