Book specific content on each ExamView CD.What is ExamView?What is ExamView? ExamView Assessment Suite is a time saving, exam generation software. The ExamView assessment suite software accompanies your Cengage text that you have adopted. On each ExamView CD you will have book specific content that you have access to through the ExamView test generator. For example, if you are using the Contemporary Economics textbook, then the content on the ExamView CD will be related only to that Economics book.

3 Seamless Applications in one:

There are three parts that comprise the ExamView Assessment Suite: the Test Generator, the Test Manager and the Test Player.

With the Test Generator you can create assessments, quizzes, study guides, and worksheets using multiple question formats, pictures, tables, graphs, charts and other multimedia.The Test Manager allows you to collect results and generate comprehensive reports in minutes! Test manager also manages your class rosters and automatically collects performance data from the school network to analyze student results and identify areas of concern. The Test Player gives students the ability to take tests and view study guides over the school network. Another great feature of ExamView assessment suite is that you can convert tests easily from PC formats to Mac, and also export tests directly to Blackboard and WebCT! 5

The Test Generator

Welcome ScreenThe first part of Examview that we are going to view is the Test Generator. Every time that you start the ExamView test generator software, you will see this licensing screen. CLICK 4 timesThen the program will display the ExamView Test Generator Welcome screen unless you manually change the settings. You can see that we have 5 options to choose from on the welcome screen. CLICKThe first option creating a new test using a wizard provides step by step instructions that will lead you through the process of building a test. CLICKThe second option just below that is the Create a new test from scratchwhen you choose this option, the program will start the test builder, prompt you for a test title, and display a new empty test page. Then you may begin selecting questions to include on your new test. CLICKThe third option down is the open an existing testif you want to print a test or if you want to add/edit questions that you previously saved, choose this option. The program takes you to the test builder and displays a dialog box from which to locate and choose a test file. CLICKThe fourth option to the right is the Create a new question bank select this option if you want to create a new question bank from scratch. You can add up to 250 questions of varying types, such as multiple choice, true/false, essay, completion, etc. CLICKThe last option on the right of your screen is the open an existing question bank choose this option to edit or add questions in a test bank. You can edit questions in the publisher-supplied banks or in any question banks you may have created. Open a question bank file and then choose the Question bank editor options to edit questions. We are going to choose the first optionCREATE A NEW TEST USING A WIZARD so I can show you how simple it is to create a test! We are going to link in to Examview test generator right now. (CLICK ON HYPERLINK at bottom of page)

6The Test ManagerTest ManagerTest PlayerSo now we have seen how the test generator allows you to create and customize tests quickly, easily and effectively. We are next going to look at the test manager. 7The Test Manager

Manage class rosters

Collect performance data from the school networkThe Test Manager allows you to collect your test results and generate comprehensive reports in minutes! ExamView Test manager will automatically score and record results for tests administered with ExamView player. Test manager also manages your class rosters and automatically collects performance data from the school network to analyze student results and identify areas of concern. So lets go ahead and take a look at what the Test Manager interface looks like.8Create a class roster in the Test Manager

We are going to create a class roster in the test manager today so you can see how simple it is to collect results and manage your classes!So when you launch the Test Manager, you will see this welcome screen. You need to choose the first option, START A NEW CLASS. CLICK TWICENext we need to enter a class name and other fields as needed. Choose okay to record the info. CLICKNow choose ADD A NEW STUDENT CLICKEnter the students first name, last name, and student ID. Now click next and this will record and store that student and then clear the fields so you can enter another student. 9Create a test or assignment in the Test Manager

Now once you have your roster built, we can begin to add assignments. In order to collect and track the results from your students, you need to first create the assignments in your test manager. So, Just click the assignment button at the top of the toolbar or on the bottom left of the screen next to New Student button. CLICKNow the new assignment window will appear. Enter the assignment name, category, term and date. CLICKYou can administer tests and assignments in several ways-on paper or over a local area network using the internet. Testing on a local area network will enable your students to take their tests online at a computer on the schools network. Today we are going to choose the option that says online test delivered over a local area network (LAN). After selecting the box you click next. CLICKNow you will be prompted to select an online test that corresponds to the assignment we just created in the test manager. If you remember from earlier, we actually created a test within the test generator. Then we published this test before we exited. Publishing the test allowed it to be saved to our local area network. Thus any tests that you create and publish will show up in this display window within the test manager. You just select the test that you want the students to take and set the options. Notice at the bottom of the screen you can allow your students to take the test multiple times or complete the test over multiple sessions. I am going to choose Practice Test and click next. CLICKNow you just use the wizard to set the remaining options and view a summary of your test. CLICKAfter you create the assignment, it will appear in the test manager view window next to your roster just like you see on the screen.We just linked our online test to our class roster in the test manager. Notice the title, term and points possible show. A place holder is there for each students score until they complete the test. Now your class can take the online test and the grades can then be stored in this class roster with the click of a button.10The Test Player

The ExamView test player gives students the ability to take tests and view study guides over the school network or the LAN.

Before students can take tests on a LAN or Local Area Network, you must talk with your schools network administrator and have them secure space on the LAN for your test...\..\Desktop\ExamView Player.lnkSo now we have seen the Test Generator, the Test Manager, and The last part of the ExamView Assessment Suite is The test player. The Test Player gives students the ability to take tests online over the school network or the LAN. Online testing saves time grading and aids in assessing student performance. Online tests can be taken by individuals or entire class rosters. However, before students can take tests on a LAN or Local Area Network, you must talk with your schools network administrator and have them secure space on the LAN for your test. Have your network administrator install the ExamView player program on each computer. So Lets start the ExamView player. Im just going to link to it from this page to save time. GO LIVE!

113 Seamless Applications in onePrintPublish to LANTime to get the test results!So now we have seen all 3 parts of ExamView Assessment Suites, but how do they relate. CLICKWell you started by making a test in the test generator. You had the choice to print it and be done or publish the test to ExamView Test Player on the schools Local Area Network (LAN). We published it to the network. CLICKYou built your class roster and a testing assignment in the Test Manager. CLICKThen Your student went onto the test player and took your test online. Now what? CLICKTime to get the test results!!!12TIME TO GET THE TEST RESULTS!

Now its time to get your online test results in your test manager! Start ExamView test manager and open your class roster. Please note, retrieving test results will only work if you deliver an online test within a class roster. When you perform this step, the test manager reads the results and stores the data in the class manager. You must first click on the assignment column that you want to get the online scores for. Then click on the GET RESULTS FROM LAN TEST icon" which is found in the toolbar.An information window will pop up that says the assignment contains open ended questions and you must make sure to edit these scores after you get the results. CLICKThe program will automatically retrieve the online tests. You can see here that only 4 tests were taken so far. It will then read the test results and record the results next to each student. CLICKNow since our test contained open ended short answer and essay questions, we must grade those and edit the scores. Go up to the toolbar and click on assignment, edit scores. CLICK The edit scores window will appear. The window shows how your student answered each question and the points they earned. For open ended questions, simply click next to the question on the list. The students open ended response will appear in the box below for your review. Read the response and enter the points that they earn in the points earned column. Click next to move to the next student.CLICKYou can even print class reports in Test Manager. Up in the toolbar, you will click on reports then assignment results, choose by class. This will print an itemized score report for that entire class.

13ExamView Assessment SuiteSo lets review, ExamView Assessment Suite is a time saving, exam generation software. This ExamView software accompanies your Cengage text that you have adopted. On each ExamView CD you will have book specific content that you have access to through the ExamView test generator.

ExamView is composed of three parts: the test generator, the test manager and test player. However, you do not have to always use all three parts. If you want to just make a paper/pencil test that you can print, then you will really only use the Test Generator. Use all three Examview suites if you want to create and deliver your tests online.
