Unit 1
• Answer all questions on Topics 1, 2 and 3;– Topic 1: Origins of WW1 c 1890 - 1914– Topic 2: Peacemaking 1918 - 1919 and the League
of Nations– Topic 3: Hitler’s foreign policy and origins of WW2
• DO NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS ON OTHER TOPICS
Unit 1
• Each Topic has 3 questions. Answer all 3 questions for each Topic.
• Spend about 35 minutes on each topic. Tactic:• Reading question – 5 Mins• Question 1 (4 Marks) – 5 Mins• Question 2 (6 Marks)– 10 Mins• Question 3 (10 Marks) – 15 Mins
Unit 1 – Question 1
• This is a “Describe” question.• You need to describe at least 3 accurate ideas
which are beyond simple / general.
Unit 1 – Question 2
• This is the “Source” question.• You need:– Evaluate Provenance of the source; and– Use specific knowledge to support or oppose.
Unit 1 – Question 3
• This is the “Extended Writing” question.• You need to assess both bullet points and
provide a judgement based on evidence and focused on question.
• DO NOT just describe both events.• Assessment – How important was the event in
context with the question?
Unit 2
• Answer 1 question from Section A, 1 question from Section B and 1 question from Section C. Which means you will answer all questions on Topics 1, 5 and 7;– Topic 1: From Tsardom to Communism: Russia,
1914–1924– Topic 5: Hitler’s Germany, 1929–1945– Topic 7: Race Relations in the USA, 1945–1968
