The economies of scale had reached the masses. All Digital Voice and data went digital. It may not sound like much, but this was a major network overhaul. From the digital age emerged ubiquitous data services. Data services were higher bandwidth and this created higher network utilization. The Network Age Complex networks and shrinking margins led some free-thinkers to ask, "Why can't we run all of these services on IP/MPLS?" And the IP NGN era was born. This introduced an IP service convergence which included, voice, video, internet, and mobility. The EPN Era The importance of data center scale brought us virtualization. As the data center and the network began to merge another obvious question arose, "Should we employ virtualization in the network?" Computing and the Internet become synonomous. People no longer play games by themselves or browse independently.
