The Company behind the play Hokum Theatre was founded somewhere around mid-2009. It really started with a theatre society at Edinburgh University called ‘Theatre Paradok’. Hokum Theatre founders James and Chris were involved in the very early days of the society, which is now a hugely successful institution.

The central ideas are much the same - anyone can join up, whether they’ve had theatrical experience or not. People can get involved in whatever aspect they choose to get involved in and we try to make things as bold and imaginative as possible - we’re aiming for a quality production, but one with an enjoyable cre-ative process attached. We’re technically an ‘amateur’ company, although we work with a mix of experienced and inexperienced theatre-types
