THE FEAST DAY OF THE THREE ARCHANGELS
Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, Archangel Raphael
Sunday, September 29
The Holy Angels, the Beings of Light,
the countless Spirits created by God before
the creation of man with no material form.
These Spiritual Being make up 9 ranks.
At the end of the month of September the
Roman Rite calendar celebrates their feast
day all on the same day. On our Maronite
calendar each Archangel has a feast day.
More details next time.
In the Rank of the Angels the Archangels are
second in rank and they come after the
Guardian Angels. The New Testament books,
the Epistle of St. Jude in verses 5 and 9 and in
the Epistle of St. Paul to Thessalonians
Chapter 4 verse 16 speak about the Angels
and Archangels.
The Archangel is an Angel of higher rank,
higher than the Guardian Angel.
The Archangels are actually messengers of
God to the human race in matters of greater significance. Their stories in the Old
Testament and the New Testament are revealing and very powerful. They make known
to us the perfect order of God.
Each week we will present an Archangel for your good spiritual knowledge. Their
important Feast Day helps us to know of these Heavenly Beings, Servants of the Most
High God. In this month it could be good to learn about these powerful beings and
helpers and to increase our devotion to them. Let’s learn about the Archangels and
about our Guardian Angels. I am sure you know that you have at least one.
A concluding prayer from the Litany of the Angels
O God, Who did arrange the services of Angels and men in a wonderful
order, mercifully grant that our life may be protected on earth by those who
always do Your service in Heaven, through Jesus Christ Your Son, Who with
You and the Holy Spirit are one God, now and forever.
