On behalf of BMXNT and our host Big Rivers BMX Club, it is my honour to welcome all the families, riders, event sponsors, distinguished guests, officials, volunteers and supporters to the BMXNT Titles 2020.

2020 has been an unprecedented year for us all with the pandemic bringing sport and many major events to a grinding halt. We were fortunate in the Territory to resume our sporting activities earlier than other states and territories however it still created some major obstacles for this event to even happen. Put simply, the people of Big Rivers BMX Club stepped up and delivered. The amazing individuals of this club worked tirelessly to create this wonderful event and our gratitude for their efforts cannot be expressed enough.

Much of this is not possible without the continued support of the Northern Territory Governments funding of the organisation through its various grant programs. This funding has allowed BMXNT to develop the sport of BMX across the Territory for the benefit of all our affiliated clubs and all our members.It is with some emotion that I now announce this will be the last event to be held under BMXNT banner. The AusCycling Steering Committee has now confirmed AusCycling will commence operations from November 1, 2020 which will subsequently see BMXNT dissolve with all responsibilities transferring to AusCycling. This will be a significant change to sport governance in Australia and it will position all disciplines of cycling for the future, creating the greatest potential to provide benefits and opportunities for all who ride a bike, exciting times ahead.

I would personally like to thank Jason Eecen, (BMXNT’s Secretary) and Leo Jongewaard (BMXNT’s Treasurer) for their many years of undying support; I’d also like to thank my husband James for his countless hours of creativity, advice and patience. So many wonderful people have helped contribute at every level, thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Regretfully I could not be here this year due to work and family commitments, but it has been an absolute honour to be a part of the BMXNT Board over the past four years. We have achieved so many great outcomes for the sport of BMX, delivered outstanding events across the Territory and along the ride we developed a strong brand, positive culture and a professional standard that will roll on well beyond the final gate.Good luck, have fun, and remember – NOTHING BEATS THIS!

GENERAL INFORMATION• BMX racing is an extreme sport. Accidents have been known to occur and sometimes result in an injury.• All riders entering the race track are required to have their bicycles and personal safety equipment maintained and worn to the standards outlined in the current ARA BMX rule book. Please ensure your rider’s equipment is in good condition and fitted correctly.• During practice sessions riders are to complete full laps. Riders will be asked not to stop on the track.• Parents please note that if your child or loved one has a fall, do not enter the track area. There are dedicated first aid providers in attendance. You will be asked to enter the track area if necessary.• Parents are asked to not enter the start hill area. Officials will assist Sprockets on the start hill.• Please respect people’s health and NT smoking legislation. Smoke only in designated areas.• Please adhere to COVID saftey protocols by following recommended social distancing and hygiene guidelines.

BMXNT TITLES 2020 EVENT PROGRAM

BMXNT CODE OF CONDUCTCompetitors• Observe the rules contained in the “ARA BMX Rule Book” and UCI BMX Regulations• Do not prevent other riders from riding to the best of their ability.• Never argue with an official. If you disagree, consult the “Rider Advocate or Team Manager”• Treat all other rider’s as you yourself would like to be treated.• Profanities, threats or physical violence towards other competitors or officials is unacceptable.• Do not bully or take unfair advantage of other riders.• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all competitors regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Officials• Be consistent, objective and courteous when making decisions.• Keep up to date with the latest rules and trends in officiating.• Condemn unsporting behavior and promote respect for all competitors.• Be a good sport yourself. Actions speak louder than words.• Set an example, your comments should be positive and supportive.• Place the safety and welfare of competitors and spectators above all else.• Give all competitors a “Fair Go” regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Parents• Encourage your children to participate, do not force them.• Focus on your child’s efforts and performance rather than the winning or losing.• Appreciate a good performance by all competitors and officials.• Respect official’s decisions and teach your children to do likewise.• Never ridicule or yell at a rider for making a mistake or losing a race.• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of everyone regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.As stated in the BMXNT regulations, we endorse the BMXA Member Protection Policy.

BMX RACING TRANSFER RULES

How does the rider transfer system work?

This year we are running transfer rules 012 (1a), 012 (2a) & 012 (3 & 4) in the Australian Regional Applications (ARA) rule book. These rules define how riders will move from the motos to the finals based on the number of riders in their class as per transfer table.

8 or less riders in a class: 012 (2a)Each competitor rides an extra moto with awards/prizes being awarded on total accumulated points, however should there be any ties in accumulated points placing then the results in the extra moto are used to separate any such ties (assigned gates).

9 to 16 riders in a classThe top 8 riders on accumulated moto points will progress to the deadman main final. Others will qualify for the consolation final

17-19 riders in a classThere will be two semi finals with 6 riders each. This will be a deadman semi final. The first 4 riders across the finish line in the semis will progress to the deadman main final. The riders ranked from 9th-16th after the semi final will qualify for the consolation final.

20-32 riders in a classThere will be two semi finals with 8 riders each. The riders ranked from 9th-16th after the semi final will qualify for the consolation final.

What is a deadman main final?

The moto points are to qualify for the next stage (finals). In the semi or quarter finals the first 4 riders across the finish line progress to the next final. In the main final whatever position the rider crosses the finish line is the result they get.

Consolation finalThis year we are running a consolation final. This will affect classes with 9 riders or more. Rider’s that finish outside of the top 8 in positions (9th-16th) after the motos or semi finals will qualify for the consolation final.

Olympic lane drawThe deadman finals are Olympic lane draw for classes with more than 8 riders in a class. This means that the rider with the faster lap time from the previous moto (or final) gets first gate lane selection for the next moto (final). The rider with the next lowest lap time has second choice etc.Listen to the commentator & check the score boards. Live results will also be available at our.sqorz.com on your mobile device to see who has qualified for the next stage.

Race enquiriesIf you have questions or an issue please discuss it first with your Team Manager or Riders Advocate.They will bring it to the attention of the event Officials. If the issue is related to racing, the Chief Commissar will determine the correct outcome.The list of Officials and Team Managers will be located on the notice board near the Registration building.

Accessing SqorzOpen the web browser on your phone or tabletType in our.sqorz.com (we recommend bookmarking the page) - Tap on the Australia Icon. - Find BMXNT on the list and tap on it. - Under Our Events find the appropriate event. - Tap on the event (in this case it is BMXNT Titles). - The next list you see will be the Event Info, Classes and Club lists and below that is the Schedule.

Sqorz ClassesScroll down the Classes list and you can see what classes have been merged and what class they have been merged into. - Tap on the appropriate Classes list for the rider. This list will include the name of all riders entered for this class and riders merged into this class. - Check for your name – if you name is not on the list then you have entered for a different class. - If the class has been merged, then the name will have an * next to it. Tap on your name and this will give you the details of; - your name - class you have entered - plate number - transponder number - your moto numbers - gate draw (this is only available after the motos have been drawn approxi mately 45 minutes before the scheduled start of racing) - As the event progresses this will update live approximately 1 minute after the rider has crossed the finish line. - The rider will be able to access their result, reaction time, race time for each moto or final they do by tapping on their name. - Tap on an individual moto / final on for the rider and it will bring up the details for that particular moto / final including all the placings, reaction times and lap times for each rider in that moto / final. - To return to the previous screen at any time simply tap the back arrow < to go back or, the forward arrow > to return forward. - After the Classes List is the Schedule.

Sqorz ScheduleTap on any of the Motos and this will show you the race order. It works the same for ¼’s Semis or Finals - We recommend you always check each moto race order as they sometimes change due to the placement of Finals. - Tap on the age class and you will be able to see each moto draw and gate draw for each rider.

2019 NATIONAL SERIES RIDER ACHIEVEMENTSCongratulations to the NT riders on their performance at the 2019 BMXA National Series.The level of competition at these events grows each year and Australian riders continue to raise the bar. This is evident in the fact that Australia is one of the top nations in the UCI BMX rankings and NT riders have all contributed to that achievement.The Northern Territory had many riders that secured top eight finishes.The continued development of tracks, facilities and events throughout the NT ensure a bright future for all NT riders.
