1976 Ford Gran Torino TV CarSteven Bordi
1976 Ford Gran Torino Starsky & Hutch EditionShane Bryant
This Starsky & Hutch limited edition is the lowest mileage original known to exist. With only 2,500 miles, it earned a perfect score with zero deductions at the Fairlane & Torino Nationals in Kingsport, TN.
Known as Hero Car #1, this 2,250 original-mile Gran Torino was driven by Ben Stiller (David Starsky) with Owen Wilson (Ken Hutchinson) in the modern movie. The car was originally owned by Movie Mike and both Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have autographed it.
This vehicle was used in the Starsky & Hutch TV series. It is one of only three left to be known in existence. Known as the “bucket seat car” this is a true TV-used stunt car and features a complete frame-off restoration.
Known as Hero Car #1 from the TV series, this Gran Torino was used continuously during filming from 1976 to 1979. It is one of only three TV series cars known to be in existence.
Starsky & Hutch was a television cop drama that aired between 1975 and 1979 and was released as a movie in 2004. Regardless of the differences in cast or plot lines, a red and white Ford Torino was front and center in both. Join us in celebrating the 40th anniversary of this special edition red and white Torino with the cars and the cast in Building T.* Special thanks to the Starsky & Hutch Torinos Club for their assistance.
SPECIAL GUEST: PAUL MICHAEL GLASERWe are pleased to welcome Paul Michael Glaser, aka “David Starsky,” from the iconic ABC show.
An actor since 1966, Glaser rose to fame on the show and has been part of other popular films both on camera and behind it. Following the run of his character on Starsky & Hutch, he appeared in several movies and earned director credits for films and TV shows that, most recently, include Lego: The Adventures of Clutch Powers.
SPECIAL GUEST: ANTONIO FARGASWe are also pleased to welcome Antonio Fargas, aka “Huggy Bear,” from the 70s TV show.
Since 1963, Fargas has been entertaining on TV and film. His breakout role was in the late ’60s comedy, Putney Swope, today a cult film, and then as the pimp, Huggy Bear, on Starsky & Hutch. Additional credits include the 1974 film Foxy Brown, Car Wash in 1976, I’m Gonna Get You Sucka, and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.
RIDE-ALONGSGo for a ride in a Starsky & Hutch Torino with the cast members on Sunday afternoon! Just go to the Gateway Classic Mustang Autocross Track (see map) to take advantage of this unique experience.

Produced from 1966 to 1996 with five distinct generations, the Ford Bronco celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. From the early models, to full-size “big broncos” and the Bronco II, this display was made possible with some help from the Mid-Atlantic Early Bronco Club. It includes customs to racers, preservations to show trucks and everything in between. This year’s Carlisle Ford Nationals is the kick-off to the Mid-Atlantic Early Bronco Roundup which is a first-rate, family friendly, volunteer event celebrating all Broncos. For more information, we encourage you to visit the Mid-Atlantic Early Bronco club tent located in space K 192 near the east end of Building Y.

guest SPOTLIGHT: JOHN CLOR
Carlisle is like the Super Bowl for John Clor. Being an employee of Ford Performance, John is no stranger to amazing automotive events, but, to him, Carlisle Ford Nationals ranks high above the rest.
John has always been an automotive enthusiast and is lucky enough to have the title of Enthusiast Communications Manager at Ford. He started out as an automotive journalist for a number of magazines and continues to be a regular columnist for magazines specializing in Ford and the Ford Mustang. John’s current published column is the top-read monthly feature in Mustang Times.
In 1995, John became the Communications Manager of the Special Vehicle Team, Ford’s high-profile, high performance vehicle group. There he developed media programs, dealer training, content for its consumer-facing
website, plus various marketing materials. After managing the SVT and Shelby GT500 websites for more than a five years, John penned and published a hardcover history book titled The Mustang Dynasty. Aside from journalism, John manages a club outreach marketing program, and that is why this event is so important for him to attend. “I don’t have a better opportunity to meet so many people,” said John.
Since the first year working for Ford in 1995, John has attended every single Carlisle Ford Nationals event. It’s easy to find the Ford display because of their massive footprint, but 21 years ago John was the first to represent Ford with a single 10-by-10 pop-up tent on the Midway. His entire display included just a few show cars and printed posters for handouts, yet so much attention was drawn to the display that John went back
to headquarters in Dearborn exclaiming that Ford must return to Carlisle every year from then on out.
Unlucky for John’s two sons, both of their high school gradu-ations fell on the Ford Nationals date. Already stating that he would never miss the show in Carlisle, John delivered the news he would be unable to attend the graduation ceremony. “Don’t worry, I did see videos of the whole thing,” he joked. “The Ford Nationals have been such a big part of my life that I could not imagine missing it.” John has been a speaker at many banquets and anniversary celebrations over the years and also has the honor of picking the Coolest Club Hangout winner. “There are plenty of Mustang shows, but to include everything is unique, and a true celebration of the brand...one of the coolest things I’ve seen in my career.”

LOCATED AT j 43-51vendor SPOTLIGHT: BRANDA PERFORMANCE
Tony Branda prides his company on being a little unlike the others, and he doesn’t want to conform to today’s norms. He will always have a printed catalog for his Shelby and Mustang parts and will always keep a fully stocked inventory on hand. With today’s modern technology many people are starting to turn away from printed publications and look to the internet to order parts for their cars. Tony believes in the good old fashioned parts catalogs and bringing a full inventory to shows so that customers can handle the parts before purchasing.
Tony has been a regular at Carlisle since the early 70s, and specializes in vintage Shelby and Mustang parts. Not only is his company represented at this event, the crew makes the
trip from Altoona, PA for both Spring and Fall too. Tony owns a storefront in Altoona and his son manages a website for him. They both look forward to the face-to-face interactions with customers at Carlisle. He actually attributes Carlisle Events for putting his company “on the map” in the automotive world.
It is a fear of Tony’s that the automotive hobby will one day be lost if younger generations do not become more interested in restoring vehicles. Tony has been known to give discounts to younger customers that are buying parts for an older Mustang because he wants to do his part in keeping the kids excited over what he has dedicated his life to. Not only does his company sell parts, Tony is always open to
giving out advice about cars. “We have customers that will call and ask for help or tips, and I gladly talk them through it.”
“I never thought my hobby would turn into a business,” said Tony. After his wedding in 1973, Tony and his wife had only $73 left from wedding gifts, and he decided to invest that in some Shelby and Mustang parts. He went to a car show and sold all of those parts within 15 minutes, and knew that this could be the start of something special.
“I’ve gotten everything I’ve ever wanted out of this business,” said Tony. “I don’t plan on retiring any time soon, but I am starting to train my son so he is able to take over the company for me. Carlisle is home for us.”
