July 30, 2021 To Our Cherished Donor Family: As we gradually emerge from the many economic, health, and social challenges caused by the pandemic, we are reflecting on you, our family of 1,300+ donors, who responded so generously for COVID-19 relief—in addition to funding many other causes you traditionally support. We thank you for your timely response in providing assistance to those in need. You responded quickly and with compassion to provide critical aid, and we are grateful. We are proud to share with you that The Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Grants distributed more than $8 million to 54 nonprofits for relief efforts across Los Angeles and in Israel. This is the most The Foundation has ever contributed to a single cause. In June, our Board of Trustees approved a record-high $1 million in General Community Grants to seven impressive local organizations addressing education equity, specifically affecting people of color, who have been disproportionately impacted by remote learning due to COVID-19. We award General Community Grants annually to focus on a high-priority concern in our city, and now is an ideal time to support this critical need, which is more pronounced due to the pandemic. This new round of awards builds on The Foundation’s Racial Equity Grants awarded last year. These substantial Foundation grants are possible because you are part of our family. A portion of the modest fee associated with each charitable fund helps enable these grants – and all of our grants – making you our vital partner in this endeavor. By working together, we are making a powerful difference in thousands of lives, ensuring a thriving and equitable world through the pandemic and beyond. With our continued gratitude and best wishes for you and your families, Evan Schlessinger Marvin Schotland Chair President & CEO
