or challenge forms and conventions of real media

magazine, I really like the overall look of it and it doesn’t look over complicated.

I like how the background

colour is really bright-

contrasting with the main cover image in black

and white.

I don’t think there is enough writing

on it to draw a reader in.

I like how Enrique is layered over the top of the

masthead.

My Music Magazine

I like my masthead because its really bright and eye-

catching, I haven’t seen anything like this on the market today.

I like the pose as it really

represents the genre.

I also like the variation of font styles, sizes and

colours as I think it looks interesting and

full of juicy info!

I like the columns down either side.

What are the comparisons?

1- both mastheads are located at the top of the covers and they both incorporate the colour scheme. billboard have shapes and

beat freak has the lines of colour behind them. 2- both magazines have columns of writing down each side of the

main image.3 – some of the text on both pages overlaps onto the people of the

main cover.both “celebrities” on each of the pages are looking directly into

the camera to draw the audience in.4- both magazine covers experiment with different font sizes.

5 – they have a definite colour scheme. 6 – they also have a section of writing above the masthead.

What are the differences?

1 – The background colour and the colour of the images differ but in opposition. The billboard magazine has a bright

pink background with a black and white image whereas Beatfreak has a grey background with a colourful main

image.2 - Beatfreak has a lot more colours involved, Billboard only

has 5 where BeatFreak has 7.3 – Beatfreak has a lot more going on where Billboard is

plainer. 4 -Beatfreak has different font styles and colours whereas billboard magazine hasn’t.

5 – the main cover image is overlaid on top of the billboard masthead, beatfreak displays the masthead clearly.

Is Beat Freak Coventional?

• BeatFreak music magazine is conventional as it has the conventions of a music magazine:

• Masthead• Maincover image of a musician/singer

• Columns of writing• Buzz words• Plug words

• Barcode on the front cover• Free things such as posters is common which it has.
