System of Rice Intensification (SRI) System of Rice Intensification (SRI)
SRI - A set of farming practices developed to increase the productivity of land and water, as well as other resources.
SRI is based on intermittent irrigation, developing healthy, large and deep root systems that can better tolerate drought, water-logging and lodging.
SRI IN PRACTICE (PRINCIPLES)SRI IN PRACTICE (PRINCIPLES)
1. Seedlings transplanted at a much younger age. (8-12 DAS)
2. Transplanting: Single seedling/ Hill
SRI Principles Cont.SRI Principles Cont.
3. Wider Spacing in a square pattern. (25 by 25 cm)
4.Intermittent water application to create wet and dry soil conditions Vs .flood irrigation.

OBJECTIVEOBJECTIVEEvaluate the effectiveness of
combining SRI and UDP Practices on growth and yield of lowland rice.
Specific ObjectiveEvaluate the performance of different
varieties under SRI/UDP combination
Determine the optimal spacing for the test varieties under SRI and UDP system

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSIONThe varieties responded differently to
the treatments at the different spacings.
However, considering that previous UDP and SRI separate evaluations indicated cost advantage over the conventional method, the study need to be repeated in order to get conclusive findings.
