At the request of Ak Alev Manyezit Levha Üretim San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Exova was retained to conduct a transverse performance evaluation of a Magnesium-Oxide Based sheathing panel identified as the “Modelpan” in accordance with ICC-ES AC378, Section 4.1, referencing ASTM E72, Section 12, Transverse load – Specimen Vertical Upon receipt and construction, the samples were assigned the following Exova Sample Number: Client Sample Description Exova Sample No.: “Modelpan” 16-06-P0117-S1 to S6 Note: Installation details as provided by the client and reviewed and used by Exova for the above sample
construction are located in Appendix A. Sample selection information is located in Appendix B. Wall Specimen Description 4’ x 8ʹ (1219 mm x 2438 mm) Opaque Wall comprising of one full sheathing without joints. Frame Construction: 18 ga. channel-shaped galvanized steel studs measured 3-5/8″
(92 mm) deep with 1-21/64″ (33.7 mm) long returns / Installed 16” (406 mm) O/C
Frame Fasteners: #8 x 1/2″ (4.1 x 12.7 mm) long modified truss-head self-drilling screws Frame Perimeter (Buck): SPF 2” x 8” (38 mm x 165 mm) Sheathing: Modelpan Sheathing Panel (Magnesium-Oxide based) Joint Sealant: None Sheathing Fasteners: #6 x1” (3.9 x 25 mm) self-tapping fasteners, spaced 7.87” (200 mm)
along panel edges, spaced 7.87” (200 mm) along intermediate studs.

2.0 PROCEDURE
Testing was conducted in accordance with ICC-ES AC378, section 4.1, referencing ASTM E72, Section 12 – Transverse Loading – Specimen Vertical.

Six (6) wall assemblies was constructed for three (3) positive and three (3) negative loadings in accordance with ICC-ES AC378, Section 4, Referencing ASTM E72 to a specified deflection limit of L/360 (6.77 mm / 0.266 inches of net deflection). Prior to testing, the wall assembly was instrumented with three (3) deflection gauges to quantify the assembly movement in relation to induced pressure. The locations of the various deflection gauges used are shown below in Figure 2:
Upon completion of imposing design load to L/360 deflection, the specimens were loaded to failure and the allowable loading shall be based on a safety factor of 3, based on the average L/360 test load.

3.0 RESULTS

4.0 CONCLUSION
The sheathing panel identified as “Modelpan” was tested in accordance with ICC-ES AC378, section 4.1, referencing ASTM E72, Section 12 – Transverse Loading – Specimen Vertical. The pressure tested to obtain L/360 deflection, ultimate test pressure, and ultimate test pressure deviation can be obtained below:
