I learnt about which colours complement each other and how they work to demonstrate meaning in the product. E.g in my college magazine I used these colours;

They are relatively feminine and so are forgetting half of the college students. They are also too pop-like for and informative magazine.

I have also learnt how to use photoshop. For a specific example, how Ctrl + T is a key shortcut for “Scale Tool”. I learnt how the magnetic tool worked. I also learnt that you could see a mask of selected things in your image.

All these things were new things to me and I find them very helpful and shall continue to do so.

I have also learnt how to target certain audiences and how to use stereotypes positively. I also learned what conventions go with the stereotypes and how that affects the final product made;

E.g a gossip magazine for 12-14 year olds will have baby pink and bubblegum blue on. They will have some pictures of “hot boys” in, but none sexual. There will be big plugs like “exclusive”, and they will be £2.50-£3.00,because they will convince their parents to buy them the magazine.
