   EVAA March 2015 Meeting Notes

Meeting Called to order: 7:07pm Monday, March 16

Matt Percival­­Why We Play 

Year in Review:  Eastview/EVAA great relationship­a strong partnership. High school staff now has children in EVAA.   

State Level: "Why We Play" launching across MN.  Involvement from every level from athletic associations up through the high schools.  Training options growing.  High school coaches are on Phase Two of the program­re­training in process.  Very positive experience.

kindergarten­­class shortage­­New elementary school will be proposed. Technology upgrade. Total project $180­190 million dollars. Community Ed. huge supporter of co­curricular initiatives.   

Association Future: What will the future look like?  Consolidation an option? How do we take the positives and grow the opportunities.  Middle Schools (6) open enrollment is a huge factor­one third are not in EV attendance area.  700 plus kids open enroll into EV area. 

Positive Coaching Alliance: Good program­­Good messages.  May not know our community as well as local coaches/leaders.  Great names, good connections. National level with resources­­high prices.  EVAA will do three sessions of PCA. 

Josh Lamb: Sophomore Eastview student 

School project­­Donations through Chamber of Commerce. (Class project). Large scope project.  Meet with Chamber of Commerce to discuss local companies that might donate money to association. (Wellness/Marketing)  EVAA to provide financial aid support­­costs for equipment (football/wrestling, etc.) Donate button on the website.  Marc will reach­out to Chamber of Commerce for Josh and start the ball rolling. 

 

President Report Marc Dannecker 

November Bond: No sports mentioned so the bond has a chance to pass. Athletics will try to raise money through associations, local donations, etc. Conversations are starting.

Dakota REV:  Gearing up for spring.  Busy registration time. 

Traveling Baseball: 287 participants for try­outs.  16 total waivers. 21 teams this year. 

In­House Baseball: 220 Kids registered.  Numbers down. Dick Sporting Good Days 4/11 and 4/12. Season begins April 20th. 3 new board members. Hoping for big push for enrollment. 

In­House Basketball:  Season ended.  Great year. One protest during tournament. Looking for fall season coordinator. 

Traveling Basketball: State Tournament success.  Boys and girls teams are big winners 8 key roles needed for board.  Open gym this summer. 

Cross Country: No report.  Budget to review 

Nordic Skiing: No report 

Football: First board meeting.  Registration shrinking.  Need to get the word out. Minors program may be in trouble­­may consolidate with Valley.  Working on the budget. 

Lacrosse: No report 

In­House Soccer: 500 registrations so far. 9­12 is starting this spring. 5­8 group growing quickly (boys/girls) 

In­House Softball: No report 

Traveling Softball: No report 

In­House Tennis: No report 

Traveling Tennis: No report 

Track & Field: Start­up March 30.  148 registered so far. 

Volleyball: Just finished 4  tournaments. Full tournaments.  District sent invoice for netting.   

In­House Volleyball:  54 players. Volleyball budget in May

Wrestling: Budget next month 

Financial Update: Karen will send February financials out for review via email. General board budget being created for review by board.  Balancing the budget project underway.  Working on better rate for credit card.  Working  key roles on NGIN relationship.  Reviewing number of scholarships offered by EVAA board. 

Program Budget Approvals 

In­House Baseball Budget: Draft approved. Review budget in April 

Cross Country Budget: Approved 

Field/Gym Update: Filed allocation going on.  Waiting to meet with Valley group to discuss field availability. 

Admin Report:  Walk­in session Falcon Ridge Cafe 3/19.  Appreciation Day­Volunteer Day in late July. Unsubscribe issue with NGIN.  Streets Alive in Eagan­­Great experience last year. $45 registration for event.
