Pressure vessel manufacturing standards
EN 13445-harmonized standard, fulfills the requirements of the
PED
ASME Section VIII, Div.1-can be used as the design code. 1.
Material must be purchased following a Particular Material
Appraisal (PMA). 2. Material manufacturer must be certified per
PED. 3. Welding procedures and welder must be certified per EN
standards.
AD 2000 Code-can be used as the design code. Advantage is the
longer periodic inspection cycle compared to using the ASME
code.

Subcontracted manufacture to a China vendor, using Chinese plate
material.
This pressure vessel had reached 50% of the requiredtest
pressure when the shell ruptured.
Lessons learned:
All base material requirements shall be specified in the PO
ASME spec.PMA requir.
