Social skills andcompetences

I have good communication skills and attitude to work in an international environment.I developed this competences during two major experiences abroad in London andTübingen.I strongly believe in teamwork and put effort to keep everybody involved. I am positiveand open to new ideas. I developed this attitude thanks to many team projects duringUniversity.

Organisational skills andcompetences

I am well organized and have a strong attitude to planning. However, I am flexible andopen to changes.

Experiences Abroad

Dates September 2015 - March 2016Name and type of organization

providing education and trainingMax Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Department of Human Perception,Cognition and Action.

Description I worked on my Master thesis. The project consisted in an application of Adaptive Control to an Identified HelicopterModel in Hover. The design and results are described in the publication reported in the relative sectionof this CV.

Dates September 2012 - June 2013Name and type of organization

providing education and trainingUniversity College of London, Computer Science.

Description I attended the third year of my Bachelor degree. I successfully completed the fol-lowing exams: Operating Systems, Networked Systems, Computer Graphics, NeuralNetworks and Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering. I was involved in a teamproject named Pasteur2. More details on Pasteur2 in the section Projects

.Projects

Pasteur2 The aim of the project was to design a low cost training platform for laparoscopicsurgery. The project was commissioned by Dr. Shabnam Parker from the Chelsea and West-minster Hospital of London and supervised by Prof. Dean Mohamedally from Univer-sity College of London.I designed an exercise that consisted in placing rings in specific positions using la-paroscopic tool. The exercise was implemented using .Net Gadgeteer platform fromMicrosoft which was a sponsor of the project.

Ball and Beam Real time System assignment. I developed a C application simulating a 2D beamthat stabilizes a ball rolling on it. Up to 8 ball and beam systems can be simulated atonce. External disturbances can be added clicking with the mouse. The applicationis organized in threads. The dynamics of the ball and beam systems and of thecontroller is simulated by a dedicated thread. Graphic rendering uses Allegro library.

Control of DNS Antenna Robust control assignment. I developed an H∞ robust controller to regulate the az-imuth position of a DNS antenna model. The antenna must achieve high level ofpointing precision and reject wind disturbances. Flexible modes were not included inthe available antenna dynamics. The controller was tested with different wind gustsand performed adequately when applied to a higher order model of the antenna. Ro-bust analysis was performed. The controllers were designed using Matlab Robusttoolbox and Simulink.

Beer Holder Robot control assignment. The project consisted in the development with MatlabRobotic toolbox of different controllers for a serial manipulator. The arm is fixed tothe user waist. The arm must keep the end effector in a fixed position regardlessof waist movements. A non linear controllability and observability study on the im-plemented manipulator was performed and the problem was solved from a kinematicand dynamic point of view.

Slow wave sleep simulator Physiological cybernetics assignment. The project consisted in the C++ implementa-tion of a pre frontal cortex slice simulator as described in A. Compte et al. Cellularand Network Mechanisms of Slow Oscillatory Activity (<1Hz) and Wave Propagationsin a Cortical Network Model. The network is based on the Hodgkin-Huxley neuronmodel. The goal of the project was to reproduce the slow wave oscillation observedduring deep sleep in ferrets.

Navigation Filter Guidance and navigation systems assignment. The project consisted in the Mat-lab/Simulink implementation of an extended Kalman filter for navigation. The filtermerges data from inertial sensors, GPS and magnetometer. The filter was tested withwell known paths.
