Journal Subscription Activation Subscriptions for EUP journals can be bought online via the appropriate journal’s Subscribe/ Renew page, or by contacting our subscriptions department directly by email ([email protected]) or telephone (+44 131 651 4860). You may also order through your usual subscription agent. Once you have bought an online or print+online subscription, we will send you an activation email which will allow you to activate your institutional subscription. To do this, you will first need to register as an individual user and you will then be able to activate your institutional account and set up other features for access by members of your institution. Please follow the steps below to activate your subscription. 1. Register as an Individual User

Select Journals then Register from the top right-hand-side of the homepage.

You will then receive an automated verification email with a link which you will need to click to confirm your email address and complete the registration process. The link in the activation email is valid for 7 days. 2. Subscription Confirmation Email

Once you have purchased your subscription, our subscriptions department will upload your details to the EUP website and you will be sent an automated confirmation email. This will include a link to allow you to activate your institutional online subscription. Please make sure that you have registered on the EUP site, and that you are logged in, then click on the link in the Activation Email. You will not be able to activate your subscription if you are not registered and logged in to the EUP website. 3. Activate your Institutional Online Subscription

Click the link in your Activation Email to take you to your My Account page. You will need to enter a mobile telephone number to receive a verification code via SMS on first login. This is an additional security step (2-factor authentication) and your mobile number will not be used for any other purposes. Your customer number (a series of letters or numbers) should appear automatically in the box next to Activation Code. Tick the box to accept our Site License Agreement, then click Activate. If you require changes to our standard License Agreement please contact [email protected] to agree different conditions. The EUP Site License Agreement can be viewed or downloaded here: http://www.euppublishing.com/customer-services/librarians/site-licence-agreements 4. Enter IP Ranges (including LOCKSS)

If you are registering on behalf of a library, you will need to enter all Internet Protocol (IP) addresses in order to enable access for library users. Each computer on your institution’s network will have a unique IP address. An IP address acts as a numeric identifier for an individual machine, and your institution will typically have a number of computers with an IP address within a designated range. By entering the IP range for your institution we can provide automatic free access to all of your users (without the need for a login process). IP addresses are represented by a series of numbers separated by a full stop, such as: 208.77.188.166. Some examples are as follows: 128.23.12.* 132.10.30-40.* 112.12.11.15:112.12.12.36 You may add IP ranges immediately, or at a later date. To do this, log in with your email address and password, click on My Account (name), then on Institutional Administration and Enter/Update IP Ranges (including LOCKSS). To add your LOCKSS server details, enter your institution’s LOCKSS server IP address in the box provided and click ‘Submit’.

Trusted Proxy Server

The Trusted Proxy Server (TPS) Setup tab allows you to set up Trusted Proxy Server access so users can access EUP Journals Online through a server, rather than directly. Enter the following information:

1. The IP address of your institution’s web server (this is the IP address from where the user will access the EUP site through TPS).

2. The domain URL where the TPS link will be located (optional). If the IP address is shared with multiple websites then the domain is needed to distinguish this site from the rest.

3. The banner text you would like to display at the top of every page with access through this TPS. Normally this is a welcome message with the name of your institution.

4. The full URL of the content that you wish to grant access to. This is normally the URL of the Home/List of Issues page of a journal e.g. http://www.euppublishing.com/loi/dls

5. The full URL of an error page that users will be directed to when they fail to authenticate. This is usually a page hosted on your website with an explanation of what can be done to address this problem.

6. The programming language in which you would like us to generate the TPS code. Click the ‘Set up my Trusted Proxy Server and generate code’ button. The code will be generated in the language of your choice and you can copy this code and put it on your server as a file name. Find out the URL of this file and direct your users to the URL to access the online content.
