Descriptive Annex

1 NAME AND TYPE OF INSTRUMENT

This Class III non-automatic weighing instrument is designated the Herbert CS610 scale.

2 DESCRIPTION

2.1 Devices

The Herbert CS610 weighing instrument (Figure 1) has the following devices:

− Initial zero setting device (≤20% of Max).

− Semi-automatic zero setting device (≤4% of Max).

− Zero-tracking device (≤0.5d/s within 4% Max).

− Stable weight indicator.

− Display test device.

2.2 Load cells

The following load cells may be used:

− Tedea Huntleigh 1040, 30 kg capacity.

− Tedea Huntleigh 1010, 30 kg capacity.

− Tedea Huntleigh 1130, 30 kg capacity.

− HBM SP4, 30 kg capacity.

− HBM SP4, 15kg capacity.

2.3 Display

The display unit (Figure 2) has the following on its front panel:

− Liquid crystal display (LCD)

− Zero button

− Test button

− Stable weight indicator

There is a third button, below the Test button, but this has no function during normal operation, and is used only in the maintenance mode.

2.4 Power supply

The CS610 is powered from a DC supply, which may be obtained from an ac mains adaptor. It can also be supplied via a peripheral device e.g. printer

The supply voltage range is 8 to 25 V DC.

3 PERIPHERAL DEVICES AND INTERFACES

3.1 Interfaces

The weighing instrument has the following protected interfaces:

3.1.1 1 x RJ-type communications port.

3.1.2 1 x display port.

Other interfaces connect only to the scanner, and not to the weighing instrument.

3.2 Peripheral devices

3.2.1 The instrument may be connected to any peripheral device, e.g. EPOS device, which is technically compatible and has a Parts or Test Certificate issued by a Notified Body designated for Type Examination under Directive 2014/31/EU in any member State and which meets the essential requirements of the Directive including the relevant EMC requirements.

However, simple recipient devices that:

- bear the CE marking

- of conformity to the EMC Directive;

- are not capable of transmitting any data or instructions into the instrument other than to release a printout or to check for correct data transmission;

- print or indicate weighing results and other data as received from the instrument without any modification or further processing; and

- comply with the applicable requirements of EN45501, i.e. 4.2, 4.4, 4.6 and 4.7.

may be connected to an instrument which transmits data in accordance with 5.3.6.3 of EN45501 without a Parts of Test Certificate having been issued. A printing device may print additional information such as date or number, to identify the printed weighing result(s) or sets of weighing results.

4 APPROVAL CONDITIONS

This certificate is issued subject to the following conditions:

4.1 Legends

4.1.1 The instrument bears the following legends:

5.1 The serial number and Supplementary metrology marking together with the CE and verification marks will be grouped together in the vicinity of the data plate.

5.2 The data plate will be mounted on the weigh base underneath the load receptor. The data plate will be mounted in such a manner that it is easily accessible and clearly visible when the load receptor is removed.

5.3 Two screws are used to secure the weigh pan support to the load cell. Another two screws are used to secure the load cell to the weigh base. Access to the control PCB and load cell, and access to the maintenance button, are prevented by the use of separate tamper evident labels. The positions of the tamper evident labels are shown in Figures 3 and 12.

5.4 Components that may not be dismantled or adjusted by the user will be secured by a suitable paper seal and securing mark. The securing mark may be either:

- a mark of the manufacturer and/or manufacturer’s representative, or

- an official mark of a verification officer.

5.5 The markings and inscriptions shall fulfil the requirements of Article 6, Article 16, Article 17 and Point 1 of Annex III of Directive 2014/31/EU.

6 ALTERNATIVES

6.1 Having a light emitting diode (LED) display as an alternative type of display.

6.2 Having the CS610 powered either by a compatible CE-marked mains adaptor or by a computer or POS device. Where the CS610 is powered from a computer or POS device, the computer or POS device shall have a Parts or Test Certificate issued by a Notified Body designated for Type Examination under Directive 2014/31/EU on non-automatic weighing instruments.

6.3 Having an alternative weighing unit designated the 8500/CS610 Magellan scanner scale (Figure 4). The diecast base unit supports the load cell, barcode scanner assembly, main board and analogue boards. The scale subassembly is mounted on the load cell, and the steel “L” shaped load receptor is mounted on the four supporting points on the scale subassembly. The unit is designed to be flush-mounted in a fixed position in a checkout surface, and so no level indicator is fitted.

The scale electronics may be housed remotely from the main enclosure of the scale, being mounted in its own separate steel electronics box. This alternative is designated as the 8200/CS610 Magellan scanner scale (sealing arrangement shown in Figure 7). Where space permits, the electronics box may be mounted within the scale enclosure.

The data plate is mounted on the sub-platter underneath the load receptor in such as manner that it is easily accessible and clearly visible when the load receptor is removed.

Access to the calibration switch is secured by the use of a wire and seal, or by tamper-evident labels (Figure 5).

Components that may not be dismantled or adjusted by the user are secured by a suitable mark or by the use of tamper-evident labels. The securing mark may be either a mark of the manufacturer and/or manufacturer’s representative, or an official mark of a verification officer.

6.4 Having a low profile version of the CS610 (Figure 6), without a barcode scanner and with either one or two displays.

6.5 Having a version of the CS610 designed to accommodate a barcode scanner (Figure 8).

6.6 Having a version of Metrologic 2400/CS610 with a single or two-cable solution to EPoS and separate display (Figure 9).

6.7 Having a version of the 8200/CS610 scanner assembly shorter than the original 8200/CS1600 version (Figure 10).

6.8 Having a version of the CS610 scale which now has been integrated into a Metrologic 2400 scanner which features a single RS232 cable to EPoS and separate display (Figure 9).

6.9 Having the customer and operator display modules combined into one unit as seen in Figure 11.

6.10 Having a version of the 8400/CS610 Magellan scanner/scale assembly.

6.11 Having a smaller version of the CS610 scale, without the bar code scanner, mounted on top of a printer (Intermec PF2i) connected via a RS-323 cable link with its power supply coming directly from the printer. This instrument designated the BC702-CS610 scale and printer (Figure 13) has a limited temperature range of: +5°C to +40°C, and is marked accordingly.

6.12 Having the instrument connected via serial port to a rotary multi-pole mechanical switch with up to 4 output connections (Figure 14). This allows the instrument to be connected to up to 4 POS devices, with only the selected POS device receiving data from the instrument.

6.13 Having Checkpoint Systems Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) de-activation coil antenna, incorporated into the scanner structure around the horizontal and vertical scanner glass. 6.14 Having an alternative weighing unit designated the 2700/CS610 Honeywell scanner/scale assembly (Figure 16) which has a separate CS610 display. An alternative version of the 2700/CS610 with a shorter front bracket and weigh plate is shown in Figure 17.

6.15 Having a version of the CS610 scale which is integrated into a Datalogic Magellan 9400i, or 9300i (see Figure 19) scanner. Figure 18 shows the instrument with the scale plate in place, and removed to show the location of the dataplate and security labels.

6.16 Having a smaller version of the CS610 scale, without the bar code scanner, mounted on top of a printer (Honeywell PM43) connected via a RS-323 cable link with its power supply coming directly from the printer. Alternative mounting configurations are available, for example side-by-side or shelf mounting. This instrument designated the BC801-CS610 scale and printer (Figure 20) has a limited temperature range of: +5°C to +40°C, and is marked accordingly. The locations of seals on the BC801-CS610 are shown in Figure 21.
