• Distribution and Business Practices: 1-week course in Japan for EU exporters and business managers

2. Training for Students in Science and Engineering : “Vulcanus”

Vulcanus in Japan

• 12 months program in Japan – 4 months intensive language course and 8

months company internship (20-30 students)

• Survey of results after 15 years

Total n° alumni: 385

• About 56 % are still in professional relation with Japan

• About 10% are CURRENTLY working or studying in Japan

Vulcanus in Europe

• 12 months company internship in Europe for Japanese students

2. Information Service

- Help Desk - Enterprise Europe Network (Japan point)

Assist European and Japanese SMEs to look for partners for internationalisation (e.g. through

the network’s database of companies seeking “business cooperation” or “technology transfer”)

- New: “E-Alert service” in Japanese prepared (cooperation requests, relevant news)

- Cluster Help Desk: 2011 MoU with the European Cluster Collaboration Platform

- Mapping of Clusters in Japan

- Connect the Japanese and European Clusters (translated info, match making etc)

- Promote and disseminate the EU-Japan Cluster event and cluster policy information

- A 5 days European Cluster Mission on Biotech/ Healthcare prepared for October 2013

Japanese Government Procurement Information Portal

• Improve the accessibility/transparency of the Japanese Public Procurement Market –

particularly at local/municipal level

NEW- “SOFT LANDING” SCHEME for SMEs

“Step in Japan”

“Step in Japan” is a service aimed at supporting EU-based SMEs’

entry and expansion in Japan, which bundles the following

support measures:

1) access to a hotdesk in Tokyo for up to 1 month;

2) access to Meeting and Seminar facilities within the Centre’s

premises;

3) Information inquiry helpdesk on Japan;

4) assistance for using the Enterprise Europe Network service

while in Japan.
