Carnival 2013 began with not only a bang, but a buzz as this

year has been shaping up to be one for the B’s. Bunji, Blaxx, Ben-jai, Blue Boy and Queen Bee Denise ‘Saucy Wow’ Belfon have all begun the season with mega hits and have been getting great feedback from music lovers.

The hive worked feverishly this weekend at the beginning of the Carnival fete season. The B’s initi-ated the pace and possibly panic for some, as they caused a musi-cal frenzy, no doubt providing the main ingredient for good Soca Par-ties!

Bunji Garlin’s “Differentology” seems to be leading the pack. It has proven to be the perfect song for sing-along fodder at fetes. This was evidenced at Tribe Ice where the song received an overwhelming response. Performance aside, the song creates major buzz when played by DJ’s in parties and has been a radio staple since its release in late 2012. Without a doubt, the song lives up to its name, very different yet seemingly perfect in every imaginable way!

Blaxx armed with the greatest brass band on earth The Roy Cape All Stars launched an attack with his “No Getaway” and “Leh go” tunes. These songs are both hits and Blaxx is fortunate to have them both in his arsenal in a single year. The artiste divulged

that he is going through a whole-scale change for 2013 and he is dieting and working on his image and stage performance. This will no doubt aid him at competition time.

Benjai has truly become a crowd favourite in the last few years and with his song ‘Trini’, he has arguably the biggest soca selection in the last decade since Palance. This year’s offerings “Feter,” “Tremble” and “Cyar Bother We” ensure that he keeps his momentum going in 2013. Look out for the People’s Champion as the season gets fiercer.

Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon’s performance compelled the audience at St. Francois All Inclusive and Fantasy’s “Savage’ to chant her name loudly in adulation leading to encores. This has been the songstress’ biggest year in quite some time nd she

admits to already having been booked for all of the year’s major fetes.

Blue Boy, a.k.a. Superblue ruled soca for much of the late 80’s into the 90’s and his signature song and style seems to have been passed on to his famous daughter Fayann Lyons. Now in 2013, Superblue is back with a true Soca contender in his song ‘Fantastic Friday.’ Even before his first performance, Blue has generated more buzz that several of the other well known entertainers and with confirmation that Blue Boy has registered for the Soca Monarch people can already expect a sold out show. Such is the draw of this legend. The Feting faithful await his first stage performance of the year to see if he still has it.

So planning to go to a fete soon, here’s a good piece of advice arm yourself with some repellent or be prepared to be stung sweetly by the B’s!

Make Noise. That is the 2013 theme for the

emerging media power house of EtceteraBuzz. This entertain-ment website is just over one year old. It is the brainchild of Aba Luke and a subsidiary of the Etcetera Company. Etcet-eraBuzz offers a wide range of services to various entities such as artistes, event promoters and ad agencies in the form of branding, marketing and gen-eral public relation services that are tailored to each respective client. Among some of the big names involved with their style of branding are top soca artistes such as Nadia Batson, Fay-Ann & Bunji Garlin. They even of-fer their services to local compa-nies such as 5star promotions, Home grown entertainment, Harbour Master and a new car-nival band, Charm.

The main goal of Etceter-aBuzz is to promote entertain-ment news quickly and precisely in an efficient and accurate manner. So we get real news,

in real time. This is not slander though, after all it not a gossip website. Instead, the vision is to disseminate accurate and posi-tive information in the form it was received from the artiste, event or company so that you hear their voice. The aim is to promote we ting as they say. Our unique culture of Carnival or any other art form that is all our own can be found at this site.

Harnessing the innate pow-er of social media has been vital to spreading their message as they have already achieved a sta-tus of 16,000 views per month and counting. Through their ex-pertise and the versatility of this tool they are able to serve as a medium that actively disperses your desired message to various channels across Trinidad and Tobago. Currently they are en-trusted with providing the nec-essary framework for promoting a few local Carnival events for 2013, namely Fire Fete, Prisons Fete and Army Fete. So if you logo onto their website at this

very moment you will see a ban-ner that links you to facebook where you can receive update information about Fire Fete.

Although funding can prove to be a challenging factor she is content to continue on her quest to promote what is ours in a positive light. With the help of corporate sponsorship and even that of the govern-ment our local brand can be received by an even wider audi-ence. The word has spread and artistes are actually coming to EtceteraBuzz to expand their brand for them. Aba describes it as humbling and states that this further solidifies her goal to have Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Caribbean’s cul-ture exposed on a global scale so that what we have to offer is made known extensively.

The 12th Edition of St. Francois Girs’ College All Inclusive fete

entitled “Soca Hula” kicked off the Carnival season in high gear on Saturday 5th January from 6pm at the Tourism & Tobago Hospitality Institute, Chaguaramas.

The sweet songs of soca music filled the air signaling the begin-ning of the C2K13 jump and wave period. The venue came alive with patrons ready for excitement! The intimate family atmosphere made the lime extra sweet and there was a plethora of food and drink op-tions for patrons to enjoy. Bake n shark, doubles, crab and dump-lings and more were just some lo-cal fare on hand.

Entertainment by big band The Roy Cape All Stars featured Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Stewart whilst other artiste’s jumped in also delivered great performances. Blaxx made no excuses when he said to “Leh go” all hands went up into the air and every one danced as to reciprocate the musical command. Soon after there was “No Getaway” screams could be heard acknowledging a good song was on the horizon peo-

ple sang word for word line by line truth be told a rather earth moving repertoire by Pappy’s band!

Ms. Denise Saucy ‘Wow’ Belfon delivered as the Caribbean Win-ing Specialist. Roderick ‘Chucky’

Gordon’s soca hit “I never” was a noticeable favourite amongst the crowd. JW & Blaze graced the stage and went through their rep-ertoire to mixed results. However, when they sang their mega Road March hit patrons could not resist the need to ‘Palance’ just one more time.

Rodney ‘Benjai’ Le Blanc add-ed a little magic to the party. His selection “Feter” nearly tore down the roof down, proving that he is a bonafide star.

Kes the Band kept the party moving with his selections much to the delight of the females present. His familiar soung “Come For That” surely remind-ed folks he was indeed a versatile artiste in both lyrics and sound; a unique trait which he confidently possess with ease. He announced an album is currently in the works, (so ladies mark the launch date on your calendar).

Congratulations’ to parents, staff and the alumni of St. Fran-cois. Good friends, food, and a tight lineup provided the formula for a great time!

NAoMi CAMPBELL MuggED iN PAriS!Reports have surfaced that the British supermodel was accosted and injured by a group of men while trying to hail a cab in Paris last month just before Christmas.

Per the New York Post, the 42-year-old Campbell tore a liga-ment in her leg after she was "knocked over and robbed" by the thugs, a fact apparently borne out by photos that have popped

up showing her in crutches and a wheelchair over the last couple of weeks.

THE ANuSHkA- DEEPikA WAr HEATS uP!Time and again it has been proven that two actresses can’t be friends. The newest duo to join the rivalry circuit is Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone. Not only are the two keeping tabs on each other, they are also said to be badmouthing each other to their near and dear ones. More so Anushka, because of Deepika’s supposed closeness to a certain

Ranveer Singh. The two are even rumoured to have engaged themselves in a rat race of sorts

to bag the most coveted projects. That’s not it. Anushka was also recently quoted hitting back at Deepika in an interview. Phew! Looks like this cat fight is here to stay and the contenders don’t seem to have any intention on pulling back.

A$AP roCky rEPorTEDLy SuED For ASSAuLTA$AP Rocky is being sued by an alleged victim for assault stemming

from an incident in July.According to TMZ, the person claims that he beat him in a clothing store in New York while under the influence of illegal drugs. It was previously reported that A$AP was arrested for a fight between two photographers who were filming him engaging in another altercation with someone else.

The person who was being filmed—real name Shenick Al-cine—has filed a lawsuit saying he saw the Harlem rapper use drugs in the store. He then claims that Rocky threw some punches at him, before redirecting his atten-tion to the photographers.

SEAN PAuL SuED For $uS80 MiLLioN By ALLEgED Ex-LovEr, ACCuSED oF ABuSiNg CoCAiNESusanne Persson, who claims to be Sean Paul’s ex-girlfriend, has sued the Got 2 Luv U singer for a whopping US80 million, insisting that the entertainer had her deported from Jamaica in

June 2010 after bribing local law enforcement officials. Persson, a Swedish makeup artist and hairstylist, filed the lawsuit in New York’s Manhattan Supreme Court, which includes a self-written book, Irie Jamboree that promises to expose ‘The Truth about Sean Paul’s Cocaine Dealings, Lies, Murders and Erection Problems.’

Irie Jamboree depicts a hand-drawn carica-ture of Persson and Sean Paul in his trademark mohawk. In the book, Persson claims Sean Paul’s alleged cocaine issues severely affected their love life.

“Ever since [Paul] started using cocaine reg-ularly, he has had severe erection problems. If it lasts one minute, it is a good day,” an excerpt of the book reads.

CuPiD CroWNED CALyPSo MoNArCH AT MoNTSErrAT'S FESTivAL 50Herman ‘Cupid’ Francis added a fourth calypso monarch crown to his credit after delivering two incredible performances at the 50th cultural festival celebrations Calypso Finals in Montserrat on Sunday night.

Cupid, who also serves as the head of the Department of Culture and one of the island’s

leading song writers and music instructors, also nabbed four of the eight special prizes along with the EC$15,000 cash prize for the winner.

In the first round, Cupid performed Short-ly After Takeoff, a heart rending reflection of the deadly plane crash which occurred on An-tigua this year and took the lives of three of the four people on board who were heading to Montserrat. His props depicted the events of that fateful day and added a sober reminder of the frailty of life to the very upbeat com-petition. Performing last in the second round, the calypsonian delivered We Outsourcing, a hilarious look at the government of Montser-rat’s efforts to outsource some services.

Name: Schainelle Bain-FarinhaAge: 20Height: 5’10Hometown: ChaguanasSexy Schainelle is a Trinidad born model who grew up in the UK. That opened her up to Europe’s haute couture experience and as a result she got into modeling the age of 15. She did not take modeling seriously till a couple years later, but she did not hesitate to make a splash when she did.

She admits to hiding modeling from her mother when she first started, but when her mother found out she was actually very supportive. That gave her the motivation to push through. She remembers her early

days fondly. “I did a lot of testing work and as my images circulated I eventually started getting invited to do pair shoots and shows and before I knew it I was be-ing book on a regular basis for bigger and better work.”

Some of her notable work in-cludes doing walking at London fash-ion week twice for several different designers and modeling at a Jean Paul Gualtier and Tony and Guys avant garde show. She has done shoots with Gok Wang and Jamie Stevens. (One of the images was published hundreds of times and won countless competitions, leading to a lot of work for her). She also worked as lead mod-el for two large international couture dress campaigns as well as worked

with and on behalf of Romero Bryan. Since returning to Trinidad, Bain

has found herself between the covers of several local magazines and newspa-pers. She worked with Calvin French, Richard Monroe, Ikenna douglas and various others modeling for bang bang, mickles, Peter Elias, House of Jaipur, Carolina Swimwear, Tribe, Oasis, Fantasy, Zadd and Eastman, Hutch Swim Wear, J.angelique and others. Her advertisements include work with bmobile and Mackeson.

Along with that, she has managed to start her own company. It’s called Shop La Belle Vous and can be found on facebook. However, you can find Schainelle in ET&T and pretty much everywhere else hot models are.

if you are a fan of soca then by all means you should know Patrice

Roberts. She has actively pursued a career in entertainment since 1994 and has made major waves in the process. A regular Soca Monarch finalist and former Road March winner, Patrice is a modern soca Queen. She majestically steps into the Hot Seat to share everything you want to hear.

ET&T: What should your fans expect for 2013?Pr: For 2013, my fans can expect a reinvented Patrice Roberts. My performances are going to be high energy and I am definitely coming out of my shell. I am going to give my fans all of me as I want them to walk about happy and satisfied after every performance.

ET&T: Do you see yourself branching away from the HD band and becoming your own brand?Pr: I do not know what the future holds, but I am thankful for every opportunity that I have received and every experience that I have enjoyed because of the HD family. I have been with the band for a number of years and it is because of them I am at the stage I am at today. The success that I have enjoyed was made possible by the HD family and there is no denying that. Without singling out anyone I would say that the family has done a lot for me and I am forever grateful. We all want more for ourselves and perhaps if I do reach that junction I may have to put some thought into it, but as of now I am happy with the way things are going with me and I am building my brand in the process.

ET&T: Who is responsible for your styling?Pr: There is this new upcoming stylist who lives in New York her name is Avanna she is holding it down for me. Also, there is Christian Boucaud and I used to work with Yosiah from Bang Bang so I must shout them all out.

ET&T: With all political correctness aside… considering your career achievements thus far, where do you rank among female entertainers in the industry?Pr: I am putting myself in the top 3. I am right up there with the best and I have embraced that *smiles*.

ET&T: Who is your best friend in the industry?Pr: I do not have a best friend in the industry. There are people I am close and very cool with and I look at everyone as being on the same level. I would say that I have a very cool relationship with Nadia Batson. She is a doll.

ET&T: is there a promoter or artiste you would definitely never work with again?Pr: Recently there was one promoter… I won’t call his name or say where it was, but what I experienced… I do not ever want to again. As far as artistes are concerned, I have no issues with any so there is no one that I won’t ever work with again, once it is about the music I am about it.

ET&T: Apart from your own tunes, which Soca releases have impressed you the most thus far?Pr: There are a few; No Getaway

from Blaxx, I am very impressed with Erphaan’s releases, I love Nadia’s Shangri La and Lyrikal’s 25/8.

ET&T: What would be your ultimate career achievement?Pr: That would be to be the first artiste or first female artiste to take Soca internationally. I want to represent my country and make sure that our genre reaches the ears of everyone worldwide. I want that when people hear our “Sound” they can identify it just as they identify other Caribbean genres, for example Reggae.

ET&T: Which overseas destination do you most enjoy performing in?Pr: First off let me say that I do not want any of my fans from anywhere else to get upset with me at all, you guys know that I love and appreciate you all. Now, that is out of the way, I must say that Barbados is on the top of my list. My Bajan fans and I have a different kind of connection. The vibe is insane and unique. I really do love Barbados and my Bajan posse.

ET&T: As we’re on the topic of being overseas… Since you are accustomed to travelling the world to perform, which location would you choose to visit

strictly for vacation?Pr: Recently I visited Martinique to perform and it was absolutely beautiful. As soon as I have the time I will be back there. A vacation there is going to be great. I also want to visit Paris, I have never been there, but I know it is beautiful and romantic. A vacation there for me will be ideal.

ET&T: What was the last thing that got you so pissed off you could scream?Pr: I had an argument with my sister and we all know how that goes for those who have siblings. The arguments can get out of hand sometimes right? She’s my girl though, but yeah that argument was something else and I think I did scream! Lol.

ET&T: Do males in the Soca fraternity come on to you a lot?Pr: Not as often as people would think, but there have been instances.

ET&T: Describe your dream guy.Pr: My dream guy is simple. He is full of life; he has a sense of humour and must be able to make me laugh because I just love to laugh. He must be fun, ambitious and educated.

ET&T: How do you keep fit amid your gruelling schedule?Pr: Anyone who knows me would confirm that I am a gym-a-holic, I do not play when it comes to working out. It does not matter if I have 100 gigs I always make time to go to the gym; it is a must. It is like food.

ET&T: Anything else you want fans/readers to know?Pr: I want to thank all my fans for their continued support and I would like to share with both my fans and the readers that I am currently working on the video for A Little Wine and there are three more videos in the works. My album will be released soon and there are a few collaborations in the making. For my fans there will be amazing opportunities for you all so make sure you follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @PatriceRMusic and subscribe to my YouTube channel @ PatriceRobertsMusic

roland Edward Marc Year-wood, better known as Rem-

bunction is an unquestionable talent. The multifaceted artiste does everything from drawing to graphic design, videography and production and is becoming a force in the musical arena as well. Well accredited, Remy (as he is also known) attained his Associ-ate’s Degree in Graphic Design at John Donaldson Technical In-stitute, followed by a Bachelor's in Visual Communication and Business Administration from North Carolina Central Univer-sity. He built a solid reputation as a television producer while creat-ing a TV program called NCSees which granted him numerous op-portunities to work in established media houses in the United States like MTV and CNBC.

Rembunction stated that he took music seriously upon return to T&T. In 2004 he released his first album entitled ‘It Starts Now’ a thirteen song compilation with tracks such as ‘Roti and Kuchela’ and ‘Black Queen.’ He also has popular Christmas songs Mr. Santa Claus; Samantha Claus and more recent ‘Macafouchette”. Currently, his focus is to continu-ously get better while exploring new techniques and concepts in the music world. He said “From the moment we start to feel we know everything we become ir-relevant the learning and growing ceases.”

ET&T: What is your objective in the music industry?remy: I love to express myself musically and make meaningful music which can stand the test of time. I aim to utilize comedy and encourage men in time of trial, bringing laughter within the context of the music.

ET&T: Favourite genre of musicremy: I love all genres of music because other genres do intertwine with each other. When I create music, Calypso is the

common thread which continues to influence my creative process. I am a contemporary calypso artiste.

ET&T: How long have you been involved in the entertainment arena?remy: I have been involved in music for over 20 years in various capacities. I am a contemporary calypso artiste who loves the sound of traditional calypso with new groovy ‘soca’ beats. My first song was recorded in the 90’s entitled ‘Mellow Melody’ being part of a quintet M.D.E with the Kiskidee Karavan.

ET&T: How was the Christmas Season?remy: Christmas was real nice. A lot more corporate gigs. Boy I love Christmas (laughs). Over the years being involved in Soca Parang music, a niche has been carved out for me to be creative, you know be myself. I love Christmas…. in my opinion it’s a sincere open time for people, sharing love and goodwill gods spirit seems to prevail more.

ET&T: Explain your artistic side outside of the music.remy: Thank god for the blessing, it first started with the ‘Rem in box’ cartoons published back then in the 90’s by the Trinidad Express. It was a forum for me to practice art and my drawing. Also, I consider myself to be Mr. Multimedia. I believe all arts are integrated. Anyone could pick up a camera and shoot. However, it’s important to listen to the artiste’s song, visualize the concept and find the appropriate medium whether it’s live or action production is required to get the desired feedback from both the viewers.

ET&T: What can we expect for Carnival 2013?remy: I produce music all year round, because Carnival & Christmas is two different animals. Two- three tracks will

be released. Firstly, a pan song for Invaders; secondly, Sa'w Fè pronounced (sahfway). It tells the story of a woman from Martinique and her interaction with Carnival. It’s written by myself, Produced by Keron " Sheriff Thompson, mixed by Giandre "the Phoenix" Diaz (DtP) @ The Myth Lab and live instruments" Sheriff and Brendon Moore. Thirdly, ‘Oh Gosh Baby’ is a cross-over appeal pan tune. Look for it on youtube at http://youtu.be/4x1B-mNXUgQ.

ET&T: What do you think about Competition, do you enter at all?remy: Competition I would not rule out because it could be harmless. It constricts music seasonally. Overall it’s healthy as it helps u raise the bar, improve yourself and observe people who are good at their craft. I just like to make the music on my own terms and in the context of competition for me it doesn’t always make sense. Some criteria states you must have only four verses. I love having the freedom to ‘taylaylay.’ No disrespect, but competition is just not my focus.

ET&T: growing up experiences…. How were they?remy: I grew up with love. The only child of my mother and eldest of my father. He passed away a year ago. At Primary School I joined the choir and always gravitated towards music. I am very grateful to my both parents. My dad was in entertainment. I credit god and my parents for the creative energies. My mother also sang, but to draw and paint I got that gift from god!

ET&T: How has the journey to musical success been?remy: You have to love this industry. It’s not kindest at all times. Don’t go into it for the hype fame and pips because it will soon show. The ones who are in it for the long term stand out, they are certainly true to their craft

whether top of billboard, or not they honor their craft.

ET&T: Who are your mentors in music industry?remy: My music teachers have been instrumental. Lorraine Granderson, Dawn Batson, Trinity College Pan Ensemble, local artistes David Rudder, Kitchener, Sparrow, Merchant, Maestro, Lord Shorty and foreigners like Stevie Wonder, MJ, Teddy Pendergrass and Beethoven. Melody is organic its ever changing… a new twist on something old. Melody travels in the air and transforms.

ET&T: Are you married with kids?remy: Not married, no kids, but I am in a loving, committed relationship. We are working towards greater things. Hey! That’s all you get right now. (laughs)

ET&T: greatest attribute in a womanremy: Intelligence!

ET&T: Any advice for young people?remy: Young people: do something you love and you will never work a day in your life. If you believe in yourself you can go forth whatever goal you set out to achieve!

Let’s not do it only because we are half broke in this re-

cessionary period, but because all natural remedies are always better for our skin. There are the classic home remedies that are passed down through the ages and through our pages (Like putting potatoes to work on under-eye cir-cles). In this issue we look back at some of them, for those just jump-ing in the mix and then we explore Epsom Salt.

Here are some things to do at home for an always beautiful you:

To remove puffiness from the eyelids, massage a drop of very fresh castor oil on to them.

To cool your eyes, make eye pads using thick slices of cucum-ber. Another option is to use cot-ton pads soaked in cold milk. Lie down and place them on your closed eyes and relax for a while.

Putting a drop of rose water into each eye just before you sleep can also refresh your eyes.

To prevent your lips from chap-ping, use hot water fermentation on your lips and then apply a mix-ture of Vaseline and honey. Apply this mixture about three times a week.

To delay age spots on your hand, use a piece of lemon and rub all over your hand, before washing. This will delay the onset of age-spots.

To prevent hair loss you should have a biotin rich drink. Blend bananas with honey, yogurt and

low fat milk. Drink this for a few weeks.

While blow drying and setting your hair, blow-dry at hot on the roots of the hair. Roll your hair in-wards or outwards at the ends. To improve the setting make sure the ends are evenly rolled in or rolled out. Heat the hair for a second and then let it cool. This process of set-ting the hair will last longer and make your hair look beautiful.

To condition your hair, after shampooing your hair take some conditioner on your palm and rub it with both hands. Apply from the hair shaft moving downwards. Do not apply on your scalp. Rinse your hair after 5 minutes.

To add extra shine and glow to your hair add 2 tablespoons of

malt vinegar. Use it as a last rinse and towel dry your hair.

A Beauty Enhancing Element Epsom Salt The natural amazing wonders… yeah right! We all know what Epsom Salt is for, Mom used to purge us with it! Who would ever have thought about it in terms of beauty? Epsom Salt, a pure, time-tested mineral compound, is actually Magnesium Sulfate, which absorbs easily through the skin and boasts a whole host of modern-day uses, from beauty to health. Here are some health and beauty related functions of Epsom Salt:

To exfoliate: Mix together two cups of Epsom Salt and pe-troleum jelly. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil for a pleas-ant fragrance. Apply the mixture to gently scrub away old cells and encourage a healthier-looking complexion.

For a facial: Mix a teaspoon of Epsom Salt into a deep cleansing cream so you can reap the benefits of this mineral deep inside your skin. Massage the mixture onto your skin and then rinse with cool water. Pat dry.

To accompany a pedicure: Before you go to the trouble of painting your nails, soften your feet by soaking them in a bathtub or plastic basin with warm water and Epsom Salt for at least 10 to 15 minutes. The salt will help to smoothen your feet, giving them a relaxed and refreshed feel.

relaxing bath crystals: Mix two cups of Epsom Salt with a few drops of your favorite fragrance to create a custom bath crystal. To dress up your bath crystals, add a teaspoon of glycerin. Store the crystals in an airtight container. Soothing spa treatment: After showering, massage hand-fuls of Epsom Salt over wet skin to exfoliate the body. It's the same treatment many upscale spas use, with a quarter of the price tag.

oily hair: Epsom salt soaks up excess oil from hair. Add 9 table-spoons of Epsom salt to 1/2 cup of oily hair shampoo. Apply one tablespoon of the liquid to your hair when it is dry; rinse with cold water. Pour lemon juice or organ-ic apple cider vinegar through the hair, leave on for 5-10 minutes, and then rinse.

2013 is finally here and it’s time for a wardrobe fix.

Clothes with minimal pieces but maximum effect are the look for the New Year and the upcom-ing Carnival season. At the same time, you'd want clothes that you can still wear long after the party season. So you have to be wise when choosing styles and colors. You need a wardrobe that takes you from day to night and which can go from glamorous party girl to career woman easily. Keep in mind when shopping that your clothes must be versatile. In this way you can mix and match to suit the mood and occasion.

You have to start from the foundation come up just as you would do when building a house. The basics include skirt, pants and dresses. Find classic pieces that go with everything which can be worn for most occasions. Buy the basics in a neutral color that flat-ters you and goes with jewel tones, metallic as well as neutrals. The

best color you could use for your foundation is black it goes well with everything. Black is also a slimming color so you could hide whatever pounds maybe holding on. This makes black the ideal base color for your wardrobe.

For serious partying, you need at least three black dresses to last you throughout the year. Buy one short dress that shows off your legs, one long dress that grazes your ankle and one mid-length dress that ends just above your knees. Next, you need at least three black skirts. Again, you should get one that is short enough to show off your legs. Bear in mind, the shorter your skirt, the longer your legs look especially when you wear high heel shoes. You also need a long black skirt preferably one that grazes the ankle. Such a skirt would be wonderful for black tie events, formal parties or when you want to look exceptionally elegant. The third skirt should be either slightly above or below the

knee. Three is the magic number when it comes to getting dresses and skirts. These dresses and skirts would form the backbone of your wardrobe.

With these, you'd always have something to wear for every event. You want outfits that make you look beautiful. Silk is one of the more flattering fabrics you can find. It flows sensuously over your body. Not only does it feel divine against your skin, it makes you look feminine. It also has the classic, timeless look that you should go for when attending a formal event. You need to get a collection of silk tops that flatter you. At first glance, pick the ones that catch your eye. These are the ones you instinctively like and trust your instincts to pick what you would look best in. Don't worry about the tops being too flamboyant, too colorful or even too revealing. Carnival is around the corner so you can dress to celebrate. You'll pair these tops

with your black skirts so you can get away with jewel tones as your black skirt would lend the outfit the air of elegance you need. Pearl accessories are the rave this season so be sure to pick up a few to add to your look.

Finally, get a collection of ac-cessories. Buy some earrings, neck-laces, belts, scarves the works. You can mix and match these with your tops and skirts for countless new looks. Wear your outfits differently by switching the accessories. Wear your black dresses with different accessories and different makeup for each party. Vary your hairstyle with every party you attend. In this way, you can confidently charge into the party season and always have a new look for each party you attend. Though the basics of your wardrobe are black you add some color to it. Go for the light pas-tels colors that are feminine and soft. This New Year 2013 give your wardrobe a makeover and go out and have some fun.

Club Aquarius in Tunapuna was the venue for Ecstasy. No, we don’t mean that’s where you had to go to get the popular par-

ty pill. We mean it was the place to get the proper dose of party-ing in December. The event known as Ecstasy was a small one, but the patrons seemed to enjoy themselves a lot. Hey! it’s Arnold Schwarzeneg-ger in his Commando days… except, he’s black and even Arnold didn’t wear a Hawaiian shirt in Commando. That outdated 80’s Hawaiian shirt wouldn’t even be ac-ceptable in a luau themed event. i guess he did it for laughs. Hope he keeps his sense of hu-mor in the cell.

Clearly he should have been somewhere at the back of the crowd. However, this dude decided he would make himself the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. Maybe it was the alcohol in his hand that clouded his judgment, but that biker vest over his orange tee is way too small for someone his height. Clearly safety wasn’t n issue for him and for damn sure style wasn’t. Why was he even wearing that in a party anyways?

2012 has come to a close and 2013 has begun ushering a new wave of hope for us at the force. However, there are still some lingering reminders from 2012 which show that things may not be quite so easy in this New

Year. Take a look at some of the fashion folly.

Name: Eric Marlon BishopAge: 45 (Dec 13th, 1967)Profession: Actor, Singer, Co-median, Radio talk show host.Claim to Fame: Jamie Foxx has emerged as one of the most diversely talented entertainers of his generation. Since his early days in the comedy circuit with stints on In Living Colour, Eric “Jamie Foxx” Bishop has made quite a name for himself in Hol-lywood and around the world. As

an actor, his work in the film Ray earned him the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Ac-

tor as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musi-cal/comedy. He is also a Grammy Award winning musician, pro-ducing three albums which have charted highly on the Billboard 200: Unpredictable, which topped the chart, Best Night of My Life, and Intuition. Some of his popular sin-gles include Unpredictable; Blame It and Fall For Your Type.

Foxx has most recently starred in Quinton Tarrentino’s Django

Unchained, as a freed slave. Other film credits include Any Given Sunday, Collateral, Law Abiding Citi-zen, Dreamgirls and the Soloist. His next role is in the 2013 action film White House Down co-starring with Channing Tatum. There have also been reports that Foxx will play the vilian in an upcoming Spi-derman movie.

Not bad for a black kid who was raised by his mother's adoptive parents in Texas.

When Scary Movie first hit theatres at the dawn of the Millennium, not only did

the film bring in huge ticket receipts, but it her-alded the reemergence of the spoof genre made popular by Albert Brooks. Now, over a decade later, theatre buffs who fell in love with shows like the original scary movie can feast their eyes on similar fodder. Though the concept is pret-ty well-worn by now, we’re sure that audiences can still cop a handful of laughs here and there with these movies.

Scary Movie 5In this movie starring Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Terry Crews, Molly Shannon and more, three dancers -- one veteran performer and two upstarts who are also best friends -- vie for the lead in a new production from a snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed director. It features rehashing of several films with slightly terrifying twists throughout. The show was directed by Malcolm D. Lee.

A Haunted HouseMarlon Wayans skipped Scary Movie for his own horror spoof. It tells the tale of Malcolm

and Keisha who move into their dream home, but soon learn a demon also resides there. When Keisha becomes possessed, Malcolm -

determined to keep his sex life on track - turns to a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters for help.
