Definition and goals of e-Tracking
Definition: Software platform linked with the CNC
The tool is mainly designed for the Aerospace and MedTech market segment for the production of parts where it is critical that the machine and operator repeated the process to a specified norm. (part of NADCAP compliancy)
Goals:
Quality: - Standardize the way to start the job- Establish machining quality definitions
and record data to certify the quality of production
Reduction of manufacturing cost by:- reduction of parts rejected- focus the control inspection after
machining on suspected areas on the parts

eTracking V1
eTracking V1 Main Goal- Monitor Cut time- report deviation from recorded time for nadcap compliancy
- Monitor Maintenance- record all maintenance item and notify of an item reaching its life limit.
- Process control- Prior to starting a job on the machine a procedure must be completed, otherwise the machine will not start.
- eTracking V1 – Market segment AEROSPACE
- Current version- Created in 2008- Machine options

What is MT Connect?
•Manufacturing Data Anywhere at Anytime from Any Machine (Device) to Any Application
•Turns DATA into actionable intelligence
• MTConnect is a set of open, royalty- free standards linking shop floor technologies and moving towards the goal of seamless manufacturing operation
• HTTP• XML
Once a machine (device) is MTConnect compliant it is;
Easy to connect (Plug & Play)
Easy to get information
Easy to share
Benefit:INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY

MTConnect Statements
- John Byrd – former president of AMT Modern Machine Shop (Dec. 2009)
“MTConnect will do more for manufacturing in the 21st century then what CNC did in the 20th century“
End Users
- GE Aviation’s Roy Peterson“Right away, this data gives us a
more complete picture of how the machines were performing”
- Remmele Engineering’s Bill Blomquist“If a machine is idle or a transfer
station is falling behind, we will be better able to find the reason.”
“We will not buy any equipment unless it is MTConnect compliant”

How does MTConnect work?
MTConnect is the Bluetooth protocol for manufacturing.- it is NOT hardware, it is NOT software but a
common protocol which allows multiple devices to communicate with each other.
