THE JEWEL IN SOUTHAMPTON’S HERITAGE CROWN Our regular and ever popular Medieval Walks, March-October 2019

Gods House tower was built as a defence to repel the French, as a control point for the medieval moat, was the home of the town gunner and then converted into a prison containing a house of correction, a debtors prison and a felons gaol.

For many years it was the town’s museum of archaeology and in 2019 it re-opens as an arts and heritage centre, with a gallery showing both period and contemporary art.

The tower will give an insight into the history and heritage of the building and the roof gives glorious views over Southampton and the docks. As a gateway to the old town, we are delighted to present a range of walks this August linked to Gods House Tower’s long history as part of its new life, and on-going story.

Any walks ticket will entitle you to discounted entry into Gods House Tower and 10% discount in the café during the Heritage Festival and for the rest of 2019.
