Newsy News The resuming of C.C.D. classes for the school year 2020-2021 is in the process of being decid-ed. More information as we get it. First Holy Communion will take place at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, August 16, August 23, and August 30, 2020 at St. Aloysius. First Holy Communion at Immaculate Conception will be on August 29, 20202. Because of COVID-19 and regulations set down by the State of Connecticut and the Archdiocese of Hartford, the Churches cannot combine First Holy Communion Masses. I just received the permission from the Archdio-cese to Confirm in both parishes. Again, not combining of parishes. More information will be forthcoming on Confirmation, which will be mul-tiple.

August 16 , 2020 Twent ie th Sunday Ordinary Time

Opening of Sunday Masses Sunday Masses re-opened we have a completely new schedule for those Masses in both Churches. While it stands to reason, that I cannot offer seven Masses on the weekend. Masses have to be changed to accommodate one priest. Many of our retired priests may feel themselves compromised, because of their personal medical issues or they simply don’t wish to venture out during the COVID-19 virus...WHICH HAS NOT COME TO AN END. Priests are only allowed to say three Masses on a weekend by Canon Law. The Archbishop has granted only one more Mass (4) to those priests who have two parishes. Also, because of COVID-19 the Archdiocese has suggested that we gather for Masses in the bigger parish that provides more room for parishioners to attend. Please recall how expensive it is to have a visiting priest. The both parishes simply cannot keep up that expense. The following will be the weekend Mass schedule for Immaculate Conception and St. Aloysius Church: Saturday Vigil Mass This will be the combined 5 p.m. Mass at Immacu-late Conception and the 4 p.m. at St. Aloysius into a 4:30 p.m. at St. Aloysius Sunday Masses 7:30 a.m. in English at The Immaculate Conception Church. 9:00 a.m. in Polish at The Immaculate Conception Church. The Combined 10:30 a.m. Mass at The Immaculate Conception Church and the 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Aloysius will be combined into an 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Aloysius Church. Unfortunately, there will not be a 9 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Aloysius. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause anyone. However, this is TEMPORARY as all Masses will have to change in a very short time when all the parishes come together in Southington.

The Sanctuary Candle will burn this week in loving memory of Jackson Palmer

Prayer for Peace Southington Catholic Churches join Rosaries to Pray for Peace in our Country. Since the beginning of June in response to the vio-lence and rioting happening across the country, parishioners from the Southington churches of St. Aloysius, St. Thomas, St. Dominic, Immaculate Conception and recently Mary Our Queen

have been uniting in praying the Rosary for Peace & Racial Healing on Saturday mornings socially dis-tancing outside some of the churches in our town. Come join in praying the most powerful weapon against evil.

St. Thomas 8/22/20 at 8:30 a.m. immediately after 8 a.m. Mass St. Dominic 8/29/20 at 9 a.m.

Prayer for Peace and Racial Healing Through your goodness, open our eyes to see the dignity, beauty, and worth of every human being. Open our minds to understand that all your children are brothers and sisters in the same human family. Open our hearts to repent of racist attitudes, behav-iors, and speech, which demean others. Open our ears to hear the cries of those wounded by racial discrimination, and their passionate appeals for change. Strengthen our resolve to make amends for past injustices and to right the wrongs of history. And fill us with courage that we might seek to heal wounds, build bridges, forgive and be forgiven, and establish peace and equality for all in our communi-ties. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Thank You A note of thanks to all of you for supporting our parish through difficult times. We are still in much need of your support. Please continue to send in your donations. God bless you.

Updates As most of you know, a stained glass window was damaged by a vandal. The culprit was found, not the person, but the material culprit. It was a golf ball! It did damage to the second win-

dow up from the alcove of St. Aloysius. Fortunately, the damaged part of the window is the part we open for air, not the top of the window with the beautiful picture. The Archdiocese has been notified a few weeks ago and all phone pictures of the window have been sent to the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese in return called to give some stained glass repair companies. Our insurance will pay for everything with a $1,000.00 deductible. Presently, I am waiting for the companies to respond. More to follow.
