The presentation will cover the following: LTE / Signal Leakage This training session will focus on a growing challenge for many cable operators – Interference from LTE telephone networks in the 700 MHz range. Discussion points will illustrate why LTE has become an increasing issue, its potential to be a very significant interference source over a broader frequency range; how to identify it in your network, as well as how using quality cables and connectors can help mitigate this concern. Keep in mind Ingress is also an indication of signal egress or “Signal Leakage”.

2015 Chapter Leadership Conference

The Annual SCTE Chapter Leadership Conference was held in St. Louis MO this year. Bob Weaver, Chapter President

(Cox Communications) and Dennis Kee, Chapter Vice-President (TimeWarner) proudly represented the San Diego

Chapter. The SCTE Chapter leadership Conference is an educational leadership program specifically geared to the

issues most important to SCTE chapter leaders. The focus is to share best practices, exchange ideas, and celebrate

success through a series of seminars, panel presentations, and powerful networking sessions. The 2014 awards

ceremony revealed the San Diego Chapter accomplished another year of placement in the top 10% of all chapters

nationwide. San Diego earned 5 th place in the Chapter of the Year overall performance category. This is the fifth

consecutive year that the San Diego Chapter has received ranking in the top 10%. “For the past 5 years our

performance has elevated year over year with 2014 reaching our best ever. We are proud to serve our industry. It is

indeed a respected and honorable recognition of our dedicated Chapter Board of Director’s and their commitment to the

SCTE membership and our industry”, said Bob Weaver, Chapter President.

Would you like to be a proctor? Anyone interested in becoming a proctor must submit a proctor application form to SCTE headquarters. To be considered as a proctor, the individual must be an SCTE member and meet at least one of the following criteria:

Current member of SCTE’s Board of Directors

Current or Immediate Past President of local chapters BCT or BCE certified Managers, supervisors, trainers, human resource professionals or other employees who have

an employment status above or removed from the testing candidates Member of SCTE headquarters staff Senior or Fellow SCTE member

SCTE proctorship is valid for three years. Near the end of the three-year proctor period, SCTE will send a notice about renewal to the email address on the proctor’s SCTE profile.

Proctors for Spanish exams should be fluent in Spanish, both orally and in writing.

Bob Weaver, SCTE San Diego Chapter’s President accepts the nomination for the upcoming SCTE Region 1 Representative election.

“I am extremely humbled and privileged by this nomination. What I bring to our Region is an in the trenches perspective of just what our chapters strive to accomplish and the ground zero reality of the struggles we face

while attempting to achieve our goals. I am armed with a strong insight of chapter operations as well as past experience as a National SCTE Board of Director for Region 1 from 2007 -2009. I am well prepared to mentor chapter leaders and support our SCTE Members as we strive to

consistently improve to keep up with our ever evolving industry. This explosive environment demands visionary strategic planning, strict tactical implementation, and a fiduciary obligation for chapter financial health to continue our mission. We must also lean forward and never

lose sight of new emerging technologies in both our industry as well as those who offer competitive options. Throughout my career I have been respectful of the value, and spirit of learning that the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers brings to its membership. The

importance and need of our industry leaders to collaborate in a common theme of the Good of the Many Outweighing the Good of the Few is a principled Cause Above Self way of life we must leverage towards success. Bob Weaver is a 41 year cable industry veteran who has been a member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers for the past 37 years. Bob is currently in his 6 th

consecutive year as President of the SCTE San Diego Chapter. Bob is involved with all aspects of the Chapter’s routine activities with particularly emphasis on strategic planning and professional development. Bob is relentless in his determination to insure all chapter goals are accomplished and is especially driven to deliver on relevant and valued technical

session topics. Bob’s persistence and dedication over the years has resulted in the Chapter achieving unprecedented overall performance ratings year over year. This has earned the San Diego Chapter five consecutive years ranking in the top 10% performance among all chapters nationwide. Prior to Chapter President Bob served on the SCTE National Board of

Directors for 2.5 years. Bob earned an Associate of Science Degree in Electronic Communications, and has completed extensive college studies in Business Management and Administration. Bob received the FCC 1st Class Radio Telephony License in 1978. Bob is a SCTE Proctor and a proud member of the Loyal Order of the 704.

All SCTE members for region1 (CA, HI, NV) will soon be receiving information on

this election and BIOs for each candidate. Please vote for your candidate of choice.
