Consultation Design Funding Order Manufacture Installation CPD TrainingESP offers a completely FREE, no obligation site survey and consultation to understand your requirements in detail. We actively work with Student Councils and other members of staff in order to understand the whole school brief.

The real work begins following the site visit. One of our fully trained Playground Designers will create a completely FREE, full colour scaled plan and itemised quotation which clearly illustrates and creates the vision of what your playground will look like working in partnership with ESP.

Over the past 12 months ESP have contributed over 500,000 of funding to Schools across the UK.

Once your design has been finalised and agreed, we will confirm your order and arrange a convenient date for your installation to take place.

On receipt of your order, the first step is the manufacturing process. Your order will be manufactured and quality assured before being despatched for your installation.

One of our fully trained, CRB vetted Installation Teams will arrive on an agreed date to install your brand new playground and outdoor learning environment. Before starting work, a full risk assesment will be carried out along with your safeguarding procedures.

Following your installation, our CPD team will contact you to arrange for your first training day. One of our Specialist Trainers will arrive at an agreed time and date and up-skill your staff, parents and leaders on how to get the most out of your brand new learning environment.

4 pupils per class became more physically active following the ESP installation and the successful delivery of their nationally accredited teacher training

Headteacher interviews confirmed that they saw a high physical value in the new playground installation but also reported other important benefits for the climate of the whole school.

Before working with ESP, untrained staff were often anxious about encouraging playground activities in the playground, especially those involving equipment.

One comment made by a lunchtime supervisor related to training; Because of no training as yet, staff werent able to help pupils and so interest waned as quickly as it was aroused.

Teachers feel that the ESP playground developments have had a significant impact on pupil activity levels and types. Following the installation, both children and staff believe that there is a higher level of activity...and that the playgrounds have brought about greater levels of co-operation.

Teachers routinely reported a positive impact on the range of activities undertaken by primary aged children. Many now take part in different activities before during and after school, suggesting that children have been introduced to high quality activities previously not available.

The ESP partnership has demonstrated that playgrounds and staff act as catalysts for change and appropriately trained staff with appropriate facilities can have an important positive impact on pupil perceptions of the value of activity and ultimately the amount of activity in which the children take part.

Headteacher quote The ESP training for the staff and the whole school commitment to physical activity and multi-skill development as well as a focus on cross-curricular active learning will cement the impact of the facilities.

The additional benefits identified by head teachers, in terms of overall school performance and contributions attributable to levels of playground activity among pupils, is a further endorsement of the value of these installations.

Staff noted a wide array of benefits following the installation, and a number emphasised the beneficial effects on children who ordinarily had not been especially involved in any playground activities

The ESP training and resources were well received, particularly by the non-specialist primary school teachers, who felt more confident in the delivery of Fundamental Movement Skills in their lessons.

Teachers knowledge and understanding of fundamental movement skills (FMS) and multi-skills has been enhanced as a result of the ESP training and opportunities to focus on these specific elements during PE lessons.

An independent research project carried out by Roehampton University confirms that ESP will raise standards across the whole school through the development of your outdoor resource

Rotherhithe EYFS AreaCase Study

Rotherhithe School first contacted ESP to discuss the potential renovation of their Early Years playground area, which was old and deteriorating. Their playground did provide plenty of activity for the children but a fresh approach was required in order to meet all the requirements of the EYFS. Following a full consultation with one of our experts, the school decided that ESP was the right company to work in partnership with. It was agreed that the new design would integrate sensory experiences, creative areas, opportunities to discover and explore, nature and much more. The school was impressed with the wide range of products and services on offer, the design of the area, the quality of the products, the customer service and above all, the excellent value for money.

When the installation was taking place the children were able to observe and see

it develop, which created a lot of excitement and anticipation. On completion of the project

the school and the children were delighted. They were very happy with how beautiful the playground looked and the standard of

Wibsey Primary SchoolCase Study

ESP met with Mr Cooper to discuss the schools requirements and any ideas the staff, children and parents had. The main objective of the school was to transform what was an old Zoneparc play area and add some dimension to the activities. The playground was uninspiring and the lack of playground equipment did not stimulate any physical activity or curriculum engagement.

The playground was split into two areas. One area had an existing sports pitch and the other was a vast open space. A brand new MUGA was placed within the main playground with sports mesh fencing enclosing an artificial sports pitch. This provided another location for structured sports to take place and left the remaining playground for the children to engage in other exciting activities amongst playground equipment such as Tangled, music, staging, traversing walls, seating areas and nature zones.

I value the partnership I have with ESP. The teacher training is superb and has really made a difference in how we use the playground equipment across

the school. We now actively incorporate curriculum activities in what was previously a redundant

space. I wouldnt hesitate recommending ESP to any school. The service is superb and nothing is too

After the successful development of the Early Years playground, the school decided to use ESP for a new development in their primary school playground. The brief focused very closely on looking to inspire an aged and dull area that stimulated more healthy physical activity for every child. The school had a keen interest in our outdoor curriculum concepts and teacher training programmes along with some of the more traditional playground equipment. Following a full site survey we produced some scaled designs in order to clearly illustrate what could be done with the space. We split the playground into zones, implementing different activities into each area. The outdoor learning area includes a science package, a maths package and an outdoor learning shelter. This extra large shelter was designed specifically to be used as an outdoor classroom and features plenty of seating to accommodate up to 30 children. The playground also features an Enchanted Garden containing some of our nature based playground equipment. This encourages a nurturing attitude amongst the children while allowing them to discover the world around them. Other products include a bespoke play ship, a tennis court, a ball catcher and table tennis tables, seating, a story telling area and mushroom seats. The school agreed that we had provided them with a proposal that included the perfect combination of activities for all children.

We are delighted with our new playground, the quality of the products are excellent and our installation was completed ahead of schedule. The installation team were courteous and interacted

well with the kids who had lots of questions for them. Ofsted even commented on their attention to Health and Safety whilst onsite.

Waterside Primary School

Raynville Primary School is a large school with pupils ranging from 3-11 years old. Based in the city of Leeds, the school is away from green areas and before this recent playground development, only featured a tarmac play area.

Back in 2013, ESP were invited to visit Raynville where the new head-teacher, Maria Townsend, had raised concerns about the lack of sports provision in her school. Maria has worked at a number of schools over the years and has always promoted her passion for the health benefits of school sport and the aligned improvements to self-esteem, confidence, behaviour and attainment.

Upon joining Raynville Primary she recognised that her passion for sport was shared amongst the staff, but unfortunately there were no facilities to fulfil their requirements. It was agreed that the school improvement plan would have a strong focus on physical education and sport.

With only an old, aged tarmac playground in place, the facilities were very limited. The school wanted to offer a range of sporting activities such as football, hockey and athletics but the distinct lack of grass areas and a poor tarmac surface made this difficult. Despite past attempts to create zoned areas, the teachers and pupils found that games began to clash and children became irritated by the situation. The playground was in desperate need of specific structured areas in order to create a safer outdoor resource and reduce behavioural issues.

The initial consultation focused on the specific requirements of the school and a discussion around the ESP approach to playground design. Maria was immediately interested in the teacher training modules that support the Multi-skills Zone. It was clear that the new school sport funding would be able to finance the Multi-skills package and it was seen as the perfect springboard to engage more young people in daily physical activities. The team at ESP were briefed and began creating the vision of the new development. Maria requested an Olympic theme by incorporating a four-lane running track to be positioned around a new Multi-use Games Area.

ESP returned to Raynville to present the visual and full proposal for the outdoor development. Maria, the Governors and the pupils were shown the 3D plans and how the new facilities and teacher training would transform their outdoor area. The Governors, teachers and pupils loved it. The decision was unanimous and the feedback confirmed that the proposal exceeded their initial expectations.

It was exactly what the school had in mind and fulfilled their desires to offer every child the opportunity to participate and experience a high quality physical education during more structured and enjoyable break-times.

Numerous quotations were received from various contractors but each failed to offer the complete package and curriculum support that ESP did.

At this stage, the schools only worry was the financial side of the new playground develop-ment. The national funding campaign from ESP enabled the ultimate go-ahead. ESP increased the schools existing budget to the point where they could afford all of the products and services they required...and the playground development took place sooner than they had imagined.

Over the summer holidays, ESP sent one of their specialist playground installation teams to complete the development. In less than 4 weeks, the playground was ready for the childrens return to school. The childrens first day back was a day to remember and the reaction from the children was incredible. They could not believe the transformation in their playground and could not wait to have a go. The parents were blown away and were absolutely delighted, to see such a significant investment in the schools outdoor resources.

The school playground is now bursting with energy throughout the day and Marias vision for school sport has been completely fulfilled. Children who would not normally have taken part in sport are now excited by the prospect and are choosing to participate in daily physical activity throughout the different zones. Conversations have begun about hiring out the playground to the local community, bringing in extra revenue to the school, while providing the community with an ideal space for sports clubs.

During a recent conversation about the new playground, Maria said:

Waterside Primary School, based in Stoke-on-Trent, approached ESP in June 2013 to discuss their exciting plans to develop their school playground.

ESP were invited to the school to meet with the newly promoted Headteacher, Jo Knowles, and the Deputy Headteacher Kephren Sherry. It was clear to see that there was some real ambition to make a big impact through developing the outdoor resource.

Following the initial meeting, the team of Playground Designers at ESP got to work on producing the first draft designs. The school were immediately impressed with the overall structure and flow of the design. Recommendations were made by ESP to improve elements of the existing EYFS outdoor provision, to create zones for outdoor science and outdoor maths, and to blend in some more traditional play areas for climbing, imaginative play, performance areas and quiet social areas.

Jo also wanted to look at a new strategy for PE to successfully deliver the desired objectives of Ofsted to:

Improve achievement in weekly PE lessons

Increase participation in competitive sport Improve health and well-being Improve attitudes towards learning new

skills Childrens spiritual, moral, social and

cultural (SMSC) development

It was unanimously agreed that the ESP Multi-skills Zone and Nationally Accredited Professional Learning modules would add significant value to the schools knowledge, understanding and application of Physical Education for the key stage one and key stage two curriculum.

Due to the integration of the unique outdoor curriculum range and teacher development modules, the school received a large funding contribution to the project under the match funding programme available from ESP.

The installation began at the end of January and was completed within three weeks. The school are delighted with the quality of the products and the kids love the new equipment. The brand new Trim Trail+ range has gone down very popular with the children.

The specially selected items have been installed onto the grass area and cater for all children and all abilities due to the simplified, intermediate and advance levelling concept from ESP. The objective of Trim Trail+ is to build confidence and offer immediate progression and when a child wishes to challenge their ability and progress their skills.

Also included in the development is the very popular Tangled Wolf, a staging area, seating areas, blackboards, traversing walls, a music train and much more.
