When the installer window closes, the process is complete. Remove the DSS ScanBay Installation disc from the CD-ROM drive and store it in a safe place for future use.

IMPORTANT:After installing the DSS ScanBay Software, please perform a DSS Send/Receive E-mail to register the installation, and to obtain any remote updates that may be available for DSS ScanBay.

Error MessageThough unlikely, if a No Disk error message displays during the installation process (Figure 15), press Cancel to continue.

Installation InstructionsUse the following procedure to install the DSS ScanBay Software on your computer.

z To install the software:1. Close all applications, including any virus or security software.2. Exit all sales system software.3. Insert the DSS ScanBay Installation disc into your CD-ROM drive.

The installation program automatically starts.If the installation does not automatically start do the following:a. From the Windows desktop, select Start > Run (Figure 1).

The Run dialog box displays (Figure 2).

b. In the Open field, type D:\Setup.exe, unless “D” is not the letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive, in which case, substitute the letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive in place of “D”.

c. Press OK, and the installation program begins.4. The DSS ScanBay Software automatically checks your personal computer (PC) to make

sure it is ready to be upgraded (Figure 3).

5. If your personal computer (PC) was not upgraded to DSS ScanBay 7.2 Software, a NET 2.0 Framework upgrade begins automatically (Figure 4).

NOTE:i The progress bar on the NET 2.0 Framework window quickly goes about halfway, then

stops. This is normal, the program has not stalled. The screen may hold in this position for several minutes before the progress bar begins tracking again. Do not cancel.

6. A WSE Runtime runtime upgrade immediately follows the PreInstall Actions or the NET 2.0 Framework upgrade (Figure 5).

The software installation, which is a two-stage process, begins immediately after the Preinstall Actions are complete. The first stage installs the USB Setup Utility, the second stage installs the actual DSS ScanBay software update.

7. The USB Setup Utility welcome screen displays after the runtime upgrades (Figure 11).

8. Press Next.The ready to install screen displays (Figure 7).
