Moving water causes erosion. The force of water hitting the ground
can loosen materials.Moving water carries particles with it.
Rills and Gullies
Rill- small groove formed by moving water
Gully- larger groove; formed by moving water
Both of these only carry water after it rains
Stream and Rivers
Stream-Rarely dry up, continually moving water (creeks)
Rivers- larger body of moving water.
Runoff- 5 factors
Amount of water available Vegetation Soil Type Land shape Influence of populations
In general, more runoff, more erosion.
Landforms Created by Rivers/deposition
Alluvial fan-fan shaped deposit of sediments as a moving body of water slows down
Landforms Created by Rivers/deposition
Delta-deposit of sediments where a moving body of water enters another body and slows down
