Remembering the Life.... Ernest Tony Schaffran was born on December 10, 1947, in Urbank, MN, the son of Tony and Bernice Schaffran. He attended grade school in Urbank and graduated from Parkers Prairie. Ernie entered the US Navy where he served on the USS Halibut as a Torpedoman’s Mate during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active duty on October 30, 1970. On July 17, 1971, he married Mary Schroers. They were the parents of two children, Jamie and Cristy. The loves of Ernie’s life were his family, hunting and fishing. On Saturday, October 29, 2016, Ernie passed away at the Evansville Care Campus in Evansville, Minnesota at the age of sixty-eight years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Bernice; a son, Jamie; a grandson, Jake and a brother, Sylvester. Ernie is survived by his wife, Mary Schaffran of Brandon, MN; a daughter, Cristy (Brian) Peterson and their children Lauren, Cayla and Zachary of Faribault, MN; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Schaffran and children, Tony, Kyle and Paige of Brandon, MN; two brothers, Willard (Betty) Schaffran and Crosby (Michelle) Schaffran along with numerous family and friends.
