Seasons for Growth

A small group of students have been invited to participate in our Level 2 Seasons for Growth Program starting in Week 2.

Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Beresfield Public School we recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce or related circumstances, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively. We are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research that highlights the importance of social support and the need to practice new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication and support networks.

Seasons for Growth runs for eight weeks and each weekly session is 40-45 minutes.

If you would like further information about this program that we are delivering at Beresfield PS please see Mrs Walandouw.

Beresfield Bluey

This year we have introduced ‘Bluey’ to Beresfield PS. Bluey is the name given to our newest addition to our school community. Bluey, a Blue Winged Kookaburra, is featuring on our new school expectations reward tickets. Students will be recognised for following our school expectations and values by receiving a ‘Beresfield Bluey’. Students place their ticket in the ‘Bluey’ box and 5 students will be drawn out every Tuesday to receive a prize in recognition of their great behaviour.

Keep an eye out for Bluey during 2020. He will be helping students make great choices and offering sound advice.

Coronavirus

Please refer to our school Facebook page for the latest information regarding the Coronavirus. The Department of Education will directly post the latest information that parents will need to be aware of on our school page.

School Counsellor

Reet Kabi is our school counsellor this year. If you would like to contact the school counsellor, please do so through our Assistant Principal Wellbeing, Christie Walandouw.

This Week’s Quiz

How long is an Olympic sized swimming pool?

Remember to write your name and class with the answer on a piece of paper, and post it into the Quiz Box near the office.

Improvements over the Holidays

During the holidays we were lucky to have some planned maintenance take place. Projects completed were; painting, a ramp adjacent to our library, stairwell handrails finished, new bubblers and taps in boys/girls toilets, trees felled and others trimmed, stumps ground and carpets cleaned.

School Absences

Don’t forget if your child is absent from school you must call the school or reply to the text that is sent each morning. If they are away for more than 3 days please ring the office to notify us of the reason for the absence.

School Gates

We have six different entry points for you to walk into school. Two on Lawson Ave, one on Anderson Drive, one on Hawthorn St, and two on Boomerang St. Plenty to choose from! All these gates, except our main gate on Lawson Ave, are locked between 9.10am and 2:40pm during the school day for the safety of our students. If entering the school during these time you need to go to the office to sign in. On special occasions we will unlock the gates for ease of access for visitors.

Please do not walk through the vehicular gates on Boomerang Street. This is for vehicles dropping off our special needs students only. Same goes for the staff car park gates. Thanks for your co-operation.

School Facebook Page

We have an informative Facebook page! It is a great way to see all the exciting and wonderful things our students here at Beresfield are doing. On occasion, photos may be posted from special events, excursions and assemblies. We also use the page to broadcast reminders, make announcements and post links to things such as our school newsletter and other websites worth reading.

To find our page, you can search ‘Beresfield Public School’ or you can scan the QR code below to be taken directly to the page. We have also placed a link on the school webpage to allow you to access the Facebook page directly.

If you would like to get notifications each time an update is posted on our page you will need to access our Facebook page via a

computer. Once on the page, click the like button again and a drop down menu will appear. Select ‘Get Notifications’ from the drop down menu. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a way to enable get notifications for a specific page when accessing via a mobile.

If you have also allowed the Facebook app to send push notifications on your mobile each time you receive a Facebook notification, then you will see at a glance on your mobile screen when we update our Facebook page so you do not miss any updates.

We do ask that you carefully read our ‘Rules of Engagement’ before liking our Facebook page. They are outlined on our Facebook page in the Notes section and there is a link from the wall. In particular, please note the following;

Facebook terms and conditions state that no one under the age of 13 years should have a Facebook profile. Therefore, any primary students who 'Like' or comment on the Beresfield Public School Facebook page will be deleted and reported immediately.

We encourage interaction from Facebook users but are not responsible for comments or wall postings made by visitors to the page.

We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to remove comments that are racist, sexist, abusive, profane, violent, obscene, spam, that advocate illegal activity, contain falsehoods or are wildly off-topic, or that libel, incite, threaten or make attacks on BPS students, employees, guests or other individuals.

Please do not ask to friend a member of staff on Facebook as refusal often offends.

We hope you and enjoy our Facebook page. If you have any questions or suggestions about ways we can improve our Facebook page in terms of what information is made available on our wall and page, please let the school know.

Congratulations to the following students who

received awards at the last assembly.
