What is Erasmus+?.

• Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. It replaces Comenius.

• It runs for seven years, from 2014 to 2020, with organisations invited to apply for funding each year to undertake creative and worthwhile activities.

• Erasmus+ aims to modernise education, training and youth work across Europe.

• We are run through the British Council in Cardiff.• Funding is in euros'. The school bid is worth 23,000e.• We are involved in a key Action 2 project.Website:

• During the project , the students in each individual school will already be looking at the issues of renewable energies. The responsibility for gathering these results lies with the respective schools/countries, to be presented at the meetings.

• During the meetings results from common tasks will be shared and will then be represented by posters, leaflets and exhibitions. Cultural visits are also undertaken.

• During the meetings, a common task is set for the next meeting and a final product is planned. One possible outcome of our project is that the students hold a mini "model United Nations assembly" where each country presents its draft resolution to address the issues of this collaborative project.

• These meetings are all captured digitally and subsequently presented as a short film. Our film is 8 min long and I will show you a clip of it at the end of this presentation.

Feedback from a member of staff. We interviewed Miss Cruz- Venner who went on a previous trip.

* The sixth form students and teachers who went on this trip gained a deeper understanding of a new culture by learning more about their way of life, their food, their education system and their local area.

* The programme, she believed, made them all more resilient to changes and situations which they wouldn't have otherwise encountered. When things went wrong or not as expected they learned to improvise and to work together.

* It allowed them to bond with other students not just on an educational level, but also on a personal level. It also allowed them to work more collaboratively and with greater confidence with other cultures.

* They had first hand experience of dealing with and working alongside other people who did not have English as their first language, and some who didn't speak very much English at all. This was very valuable as it opened the door for students to see the importance and value of being more international and diverse as a group. For example, for one of the students, the trip to Sicily represented her first opportunity to travel to a different country and encounter people who had a very different way of life.

* It allowed her as a professional to reflect and re-evaluate her own approach to teaching lessons. Being able to see how another country approaches teaching was fascinating.
